From beginning to end, we were overwhelmed by the staff, location, and atmosphere of the Shelbourne Dublin Hotel. Walking out the door was a pleasure since St. Stephen's Green is right across the street. They strike a nice balance between formal and relaxed--not too stuffy.
We (husband and I) spent 3 nights at the Westin at the end of our 2 weeks in Ireland. The location is great for discovering Dublin on foot: near everything but just far enough from the chaos of Temple Bar.
Beautiful hotel. We felt like we were staying at Downton Abbey! All the maids had pretty little uniforms and the staff was always polishing and cleaning. All seemed happy doing their jobs and our room was perfectly cleaned and turned down each night. Even umbrellas were furnish on rainy days. Definitely would stay again!
We had no expectations.
We have travelled extensively through France and Italy. We came to Dublin to attend a close friends daughters wedding.
The Marker Hotel is honestly the best hotel we have ever stayed at. We plan to go back because their attention to detail is unbelievable .
Every time I had a request, they were on top of it.
Restaurant booked? Another option.
I cannot think of a single fault. I am a discriminating traveller and I was impressed.
Going to Dublin?
Stay at the Marker.

We stayed at the Fitzwilliam for two nights and it was wonderful.
The location is ideal for touring the city and the staff are outstanding, especially the concierge personnel for whom nothing is too much trouble, including recommending good places to eat even though the hotel has its own restaurant.
On one night we did eat at the 'in house' Citron restaurant and this was exceptional without being too expensive.
If/when we return to Dublin I'm confident we'll go back to the Fitzwilliam.
Rooms in the hotel are furnished to a high standard and are very comfortable, ours had a lovely view of the courtyard and was exceptionally quiet.
