We were on a sightseeing trip in Brussels, so we were looking for an affordable hotel close to Brussels Midi station and walking distance to the city centre. The hotel ticked all the boxes. After booking, I became apprehensive after reading some of the reviews, which mentioned noisy area, unsafe, with dodgy people around. First the noise: it is true that the road in front of the hotel is a building site. But we were out all day so the daytime noise did not bother us at all. At night, our room was dead quiet and we slept soundly in the king-size bed after a day of sightseeing. As for dodgy characters, it is true the area appears to be in an immigrant quarter, but at no time did we feel unsafe. We were out and about until midnight on some days. Just because people around you are from immigrant background does not make them dangerous!!! We loved the breakfast with its delicious pastries and egg served differently on each of the three days we were there. Recommend taking the breakfast option if you can - well worth the €7 extra. Other useful facilities are a reasonably priced vending machine and a water cooler (free) that also provides hot water. All in all, a good hotel that is affordable, conveniently located, with great breakfast and is recommended if you are looking for a place to rest your weary feet and have a good night's sleep after visiting the city. Of course, if you are willing to pay more you will get plenty of better hotels, but this one provides the best value.
