“Excelent Hotel”
Great location, few blooks from Covent Garden, clean and quiet rooms, excelent service.
“Best choice for Business or Vacation visit”
It is an old classic hotel located in London Centre, I will back to it next visit. If it is for business or touristic visit to London, you can satisfy all your needs inside or outside the hotel.
“Centrally positioned for central london, ideal if your taking in a show”
Very pleasant and clean hotel centrally situated in the heart of theatre land. Only a 10 - 15 min walk to Trafalgar square, London Eye etc. Hotel was very spacious and clean and the resteraunts were very good especially the cavery and english breakfast. However, although clean and spacious with good facilities our `club room` was uncomfortably warm even in October. We had to have the windows open all night and even reverted to using the supplied fan in the room to try to keep cool. Would not have liked to have stayed here during the summer months! Friends of ours staying in another room at the same time also complained about the `heat`. This is an old hotel with no `air conditioning` in the bedrooms and I think `modernisation` fire doors etc has reduced air circulation around the upper floors of the hotel? That said, the location is perfect for a sightseeing trip and if you consider you don`t spend all your time in your room then I would certainly recommended this hotel. I would stay here again but would spend a couple of hours in the bar before going to bed!
“Better than expected!”
Had read some less than complimentary reports about this hotel so booked a room with a little trepidation. On arrival I was very pleasantly suprised. From booking in to booking out there was little to fault. True, I had a refurbished room and it was very clean and comfortable. Not a large room but was only in it to sleep. Maybe I was just lucky but I would return quite happily. There was noise from traffic but what do you expect in a hotel in the center of London!
“excellent location, strand hotel”
I've stayed at this hotel several times over the last several years. I find the location excellent for my needs. Its close to the Piccadilly line if you want to take the slow train to and from Heathrow. Its close to many places to eat (e.g. convent garden), to the theater district., and to all the major sites. The hotel itself is nothing fancy but I only want an inexpensive place to sleep.
“3 day stay in London”
I spent 4 days in Sept 08. Hotel was conveniently located near a tube stop (I don't recall changing trains from Heathrow T5) and located near most of the touristy places. The room was small but I was more interested in cost and location - both were great. I spent most of the time walking around London. I opted for the included breakfast which worked out great for me, cost and convenience. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Internet connection was a bit more expensive then I had expected. I would certainly stay there again.
“nice hotel”
not bad for london..in the theather district...close to soho and piccadly circus...two blocks from the thames and the london eye....couldn't ask for more really..the rooms are small but thats london..
“Strand Palace's location is strongest point.”
Rooms would be tight for two, but are big enough for one to leave a suitcase open. Rooms in back (with no view) are quiet (higher floors may be better than lower, with respect to the noise of the HVAC unit), and curtains block light well for naps assisting with time shifting. Concierge services broad, including tix for Heathrow Express and theater. Reasonable walk to National Gallery, Covent Garden, Somerset House, several theaters. Two warnings: storing luggage costs 2 GBP per bag per day; prices vary significantly depending on dates?, occupancy at time of reservation? who knows.
“Much better than a 3*”
This hotel was extremely good, very welcoming with absolutely fabulous staff who could not do enough for you, the rooms and cleanliness were top rate and all staff were so polite to all its guests. I will be most certainly booking this hotel again and I will be recommending this hotel to anybody who is looking for a room with decent service. Many thanks again Strand Palace, keep up the great work.
“JUST GREAT!”
I STAYED AT THE STRAND PALACE HOTEL FOR 3 NIGHTS AND WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THE HOTEL. THE LOCATION IS EXCELLENT - JUST A COUPLE OF MINUTES WALK TO COVENT GARDEN , THEATRES , TRAFALGAR SQUARE AND TUBE/ RAILWAY STATIONS. MY ROOM , A CLUB SINGLE, WAS VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE AND A GOOD SIZE. NO AIR CON BUT THAT WASN'T A PROBLEM IN OCTOBER ALTHOUGH A FAN WAS PROVIDED. BREAKFAST WAS INCLUDED IN THE DEAL AND WAS PLENTIFUL AND TASTY. STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS. ALL IN ALL I'D SAY THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY FOR A SHORT BREAK IN LONDON. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN.
