We slept here after we drove on the Ring of Kerry.
Rooms are large and bright (full window covers for those who want to miss breakfast)
Food was good. We even listened to some great Irish music from some fellow patrons

Emergency visit to Tralee. Good response to online booking.
Reception staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful.
Owner, and manager introduced themselves and offered extra help if needed. Eg. Help with luggage and directions within Tralee.
Although our reason for visit was under very sad circumstances, our stay at the Grand Hotel was exceptional. Thank you to all the staff.

Keanes of Currahean was an amazing experience! One of our favorites! We booked the room because of the bay view, but didn't expect the majestic mountains. So stunning! The hotel itself was lovely. Our room had two beds (one queen, one full/twin) and could easily have accommodated a small family. Our room was clean and had a wonderful view of the bay and surrounding properties, including several grazing sheep. The hotel restaurant had a wonderful outdoor deck, and the view of the night sky was breathtaking. I've never seen so many stars!
The innkeeper, John, was welcoming and helpful in suggesting a few area sights. The bartender, Sean, was friendly and pleasant, as were the locals (Tom the tour bus driver) we met at the bar. In fact, it was the first experience we had with local people apart from wait staff -- and they were just what we hoped to find in Ireland. Many thanks for that!
A few words about the area: If you're headed to Keanes, make sure to stop in Killarney. It has a beautiful city center and was one of the highlights of our trip. Wish we'd had more time to explore the inviting alleyway shops and restaurants. Also, the Keanes is near the Ring of Kerry, a definite must see. However, I would encourage you to start that driving tour well before mid-afternoon. Due to other adventures along our way, we couldn't start the drive until about 5:30 p.m. Even with sunset close to 10 p.m. in mid- May, we completed the last quarter of the drive in the dark. Not advisable!

My wife and I recently stayed here on our tour of Ireland and it was fantastic. Not too far from Tralee but enough out of town to make it very quiet and country like. The house however is far from country. Very modern with large rooms and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was amazing.
We needed extra phone calls, etc to replace a car window and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. Even gave the fitter a cup of coffee! The window was broken in Dublin so nothing to do with Somerton House.
