Gorgeous castle close to Edinburgh! So far the main areas are renovated and they are stunning. The aesthetic blends castle feel (gold mirrors, beautiful wooden buttresses, textured wallpaper) with fabulous modern touches (lighting and tiling). We stayed in suite 27 and it had luxurious touches throughout (copper bathtub, double headed shower, new tiling, beautiful new bed) mixed with remnants of the castle feel (tapestry headboard and ancient well (secured) . The bar was classy and had a wide array of wine and full bar on display. The dining room was gorgeous and we had a phenomenal dinner and breakfast. The library is a great spot to read and has a hidden whiskey room. Ask for the castle tour! So glad we stayed here!
Loved staying at this castle, so cute and a fun experience. The breakfast was delicious and the bar had great cocktails and friendly staff. The rooms were clean and cozy. Would definitely recommend staying here.
A beautiful place to stay. Service from check in to check out was great, parking was convenient, and the room was clean.
We had dinner in the "dungeon" with the pre-set tasting menu and it was extraordinary.
We di did not utilize the spa area so I can't comment on those services.
We would definitly stay here again.
Ruth was a super star. She gave us a personalized tour and regaled us with historic lore.
Our bar experience was also pleasant. When we arrived, we had tea service.

The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was immaculate. They are mid-renovations. I believe we got a new room. The view was incredible.
We also ate in the dungeon for the tasting menu andand enjoyed the
Quiet property with great amendments. Close enough to go into the city if desired.

Forgotten Vows. Terrible communication.
I booked the castle for my vow renewal 7 months in advance. And made reservations for the Dungeon. I spoke with the event planner and assumed everything was set. 3 weeks before the date recieved an email stating the suite was unavailable and they had changed us to another room no other details. And the restaurants were closed. When I emailed back asking for more details the planner called and said they had a wedding the day before and they got precedence. They had made a mistake and I shouldn't have been able to book in the first place. I get it money talks. The wedding brought in a bigger profit. They said they had a room they'd just finished that would be great for us. It Definitely wasn't finished. No mirror, to get ready in my wedding dress, I used my phone. No cold water, the regulator didn't work so you we scolded, no closet rods, no phone, 4 flights up and you'd have to go back and forth to reception( not that anyone was there to help you anyway) no clock, no fridge, no garbage can, it seemed it had just been finished but no one had finished the punch list to make it suitable for guests. We were an after thought. No one told us anything no one knew anything. We couldnt do archery or falconry but other guests could. We were told the new owner is trying to make this a 5 star hotel. My advice. Replace the MIA event planner and reception staff. Keep the chef, (great food) keep Kim and Shawn excellent customer service skills.
paid to stay in a castle, but ended up in an auxiliary building 5 min walk away from the castle to carry suitcases down 3 flights. They helped us take it up the first time. and the Staff was excellent. I was just disappointed and wanted to stay in a castle room.

Beautiful property—-was excited to stay in an actual Scottish castle. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. Castle grounds were nice. Castle itself was nice as well. There is currently scaffolding covering one side. There was a wedding there so we couldn't go into the library cuz it was reserved for them.
This was a trip of a lifetime and wanted to stay in a castle for couple days and this place was hands down amazing so friendly, it’s quiet and clean. Looking forward to being back

Lovely stay, great for couples
Incredible location, lovely staff. Slightly faded glamour, but still a delightful stay.
The bedrooms got toasty warm but the communal spaces (library, bar) were a bit too chilly.
