The hotel should lose half-a-star because you must purchase a bathing cap before using the pool. I hate additional hidden charges!

I expected better
Check in was confused with some problem causing difficulty which left me standing for some time without explanation. Bistro that night was undermanned, staff rushed off their feet. Biggest shock was next morning when daylight exposed brown stains on the carpet - blood or worse? Is this why the lighting is dim? Receptionist on checkout was most apologetic and promised a manager would contact me. Needless to say no contact made.

Brilliant hotel in every way
Amazing hotel.. very helpful and welcoming staff who would go out of their way to make your stay as memorable as possible. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. Special praise to Alex on Reception whose attention to detail, friendliness, efficiency and eagerness to accommodate our requirements in every way makes her an amazing asset to this hotel. The entertainment that night was brilliant as was the gorgeous meal and breakfast. Can’t wait to return! Jane, Limerick

Not a 4 star hotel!!!
There were holes in the walls, holes in the tiles of the bathroom, the sheets smelled terrible, and the bed had springs sticking into our backs. The bed literally felt as if it was falling apart! The grout lines were growing things… I had higher expectations being rated a 4 star hotel, but this was our worst hotel stay ever.

The room was nicely decorated. From the 4th floor we had an OK view of the town but not the river. I'd definitely stay there again.

I was a little disappointed with the hotel. The room was very warm and the window handles were hanging off so almost impossible to open the window. One lift didn’t work and the staff in the bar just ignored anyone waiting to be served without acknowledging them. Had a nice outdoor area and the breakfast was good.

The place to stay in Athlone
We reserved room last minute and they didn't have the 3rd party reservation yet when we showed up. But we were there before check out time so it was no big deal but the people checking us in went about and beyond to help us and we ended up having a wonderful visit. And we had a beautiful view from our room. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

Extremely bad experience
Hotel clained there was no availability with 2 rooms confirmed booked, staff were not helpful or accommodating and just asked us to leave and email for a refund. Finally I managed after some persuasion to get a refund. Staff and management have no idea of consummer rights and believe that they can treat customers whatever way they want. I would not recommend this hotel or its services.

Hotel has seen better days. It's really starting to look tired & run down. No ac which was a huge problem as our room was stuffy, we had the window open all night on our first night but had to close it the second night due to loud street noise. Our room was overlooking the river. The Sheraton down the road looks a lot newer & has ac.

Terrific break.
Just spent a lovely few days in Athlone staying at the Radisson Blu.Got a great deal and had a great river view from our room.Everyone was pleasant and the food was first class.Would recommend this hotel and the town of Athlone.
