OK, we though a great weekend away and enjoy the Shangrila experience...What a letdown!! We arrived and were told we are staying in the Krugthep Wing - it might well have been another hotel. 900m walk to and from the hotel, thru crappy old function room areas. NO ATMOSPHERE, no enjoying the ambience. What a waste. So disappointing. The hotel is OLD and rundown, whilst the staff we wonderful, with so many other great hotels to stay - SHAME on you Shangrila. Look around for better options and ALWAY check that they arent dumping you at the Krugthep Wing.its like staying in a cast empty nothing hotel.

Not only is the hotel, a beautiful property, but it’s staff is friendly and very professional. The restaurants are awesome and I mean all of them, including the overlooked Tuscan restaurant, boasting incredible meat and pasta, specialties paired with a great selection of wines.

We stayed in a Deluxe Suite in the Krungthep wing and it was one of the best “rooms” i have ever stayed in. The suite is more like a 2 room apartment, with separate large bathroom and an additional powder room fitted with its own toilet. The rooms are fitted with chandeliers, drapes and lovely furniture which exude a regal warmth and charm not found in most modern hotels. The rooms include complementary access to both the Shangri-La breakfast buffet and Horizon club (which is a must do experience located on the 24th floor of the Shangri-La wing, particularly the canapés sitting in the evening which serves complimentary cocktails and a good selection of food). Krungthep wing residents may use either of the two pools - we preferred the quieter Krungthep pool and the personal service but the choice is yours. The hotel is located overlooking the Chao Phraya river in arguably one of the best locations adjacent to the rail station, water taxi port and diagonally opposite the fantastic IconSiam shopping centre (a must see for Bangkok visitors - the hotel provides a regular complimentary shuttle service). Overall a wonderful hotel, great location and fantastic service (a big shout out to TonTon). Don’t think about it - just book a stay, you won’t regret it.

This property is completely 5 star. The room, restaurants, gym, breakfast buffet, pool, hot tub, spa, property, concierge, and people are fabulous. In Bangkok there is really no other option. Everytime we are in Bangkok we stay here. Thank you for the service.

Arguably the best hotel location in Bangkok! Fabulous bar and pool that overlook the river. The entire staff were amazing! Professional, courteous and polite. The only negative comment relates to the rooms. The river views are fabulous but the rooms are very tired and need revamping. Otherwise a fabulous place!!

The best location in all of Bangkok! Right on the river with easy access to river taxis and ferries. The staff are impeccable at the Shangri-la. The rooms are looking a bit tired but everything else is five star!!!!

Had a fantastic stay! The staff was very gracious & very helpful. The location on the river made it so convenient to take the water taxis everywhere. A good central location. The outdoor areas & pool made the property feel more like a resort than just a hotel. The food at the hotel was decent with good service. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in Shangri-La Bangkok for 5 nights and enjoyed every second of it. Not only was the room spacious, but it also had a fantastic view. The staff were really friendly and always eager to help. The premium lounge was also a nice addition. I truly recommend this hotel for a memorable stay in Bangkok.

Super nice older hotel. It has a retro feel, and could maybe use an update, but it’s clean and charming. The location is great, walkable to area restaurants and shopping, and close to transportation - boats, trains, everything. The fitness center was wonderful. I only stayed two nights, but I was very happy I chose this hotel. Highly recommend.

The staffs here prefer only to take care of the white people, they are like their gods and if you yellow, black or others, they don’t care about you, they don’t check on you and they don’t provide good service. The room is big but very old, not well maintained, not worth the price i paid, i am not happy at all.

There was no hot water for two days. The first day, I asked for someone to fix it. The technicial came but on the second night, there is no hot water again. The technicial came again but couldn't fix it and ask me to wait. I waited for an hour and there is still no hot water so I had to take a cold shower. The hot water didn't come until the next morning. Most of the staff are very friendly and respectful but some are not. I was at the pool and got asked for my room number while other guests didn't get asked. I am a young Asian so I guess I don't deserve the same respect as other older white peole?

Wow, impeccable service. For those unintelligent people commenting on the look of the property. This is obviously a traditional hotel that has been around for the last 30 years, so know that before booking. If you want something super modern, this may not be it, but the service is top-notch, the rooms are clean and well maintained, there is also a newer wing for those who prefer something more updated, although I recommend staying in the original wing as this is where the restaurant and pool are. Great location. Safe, you have to go through a metal detector and everyone has to put their bags through an x-ray prior to entering the property. I stayed in a premier room with a balcony and views of the river from the bathroom, bed, and balcony area. Great value for the price. There are definitely more modern/updated hotels, but I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend. I usually stay in five star properties and I feel that this meets the bill.
