Excellent city centre 5 star.

Stayed here for one night as a birthday present for my sister. Everything was first class, staff were all lovely. We had a bit of a problem with noise from niteclub below but apart from that would stay again.

Very beautiful historic hotel

Posted 21-Nov-2017
Pros: Location, staff and grandeur.
Cons: Solve the late night street noise issue or warn people of it.
Location: Central location, great restaurants and many bars and clubs.
Staff were fantastic and breakfast in the historic great room was exceptional. The room in the classic wing was lovely but street noise from nearby late closing nightclubs was a problem at times.

Great hotel, great staff

Posted 25-Oct-2017
Pros: Staff, location
Cons: Not much
Location: Great restaurants
Staff was superb: Martin, Jonnie, Arron and everybody at the front desk. Breakfasts were excellent. Only drawback was the street noise occasionally from nearby nightclubs. But the Dirty Onion down the block was a great place for traditional music.

The hotel is great - but some rooms might be noisy

Posted 20-Oct-2017
Pros: The rooms a big, clean and full of character, and the staff are very helpful.
Cons: The double glazing was ineffective - the noise from the street was unbearable!
Location: Great location right in the heart of Belfast.
The Merchant is a lovely hotel in the heart of Belfast. The rooms a big, clean and full of character, and the staff are very helpful. Our only complaint – and it's a big one – is that some rooms are incredibly noisy. We stayed in room 208, which right above the street. It was a Saturday night and music from the bars below was unbearable. The hotel was fully-booked, too, so there was no option but to put in some earplugs and stay put. It's a shame, because everything else was great!

Great location, great hotel

I can't say enough good things about this lovely hotel. It was clean, beautiful and the staff were terrific. The city of Belfast was fascinating. The tours that Martin in The Lobby helped us plan were informative and interesting. He was priceless! Only place to stay if you're in Belfast.

Best hotel experience we've ever had!

Posted 29-Sep-2017
Pros: Great location; wonderful staff; beautiful hotel.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: In the trendy Cathedral quarter of Belfast - within walking distance of great bars and restaurants, as well as Belfast City Hall
My sister, my mother, and I recently stayed at the Merchant (Sept. 2017) and cannot say enough good things about the hotel and the staff. From Erin at check-in to Michael the concierge, they went above and beyond for us. They helped us arrange (and then re-arrange) dinner reservations; set us up for a "Troubles" taxi tour, and simply overall, everyone there made us feel special. The hotel itself is beautiful - ornate and tasteful at the same time. Highly recommend!

Excellent city centre hotel

Posted 07-Aug-2017
Pros: Smart hotel with friendly, helpful staff
Location: Hop-on, hop-off sightseeing bus provided a great introduction to the city and then enjoyed the City Hall and Titanic Experience.
A little bit of luxury perfectly located in Belfast city centre
