This was our first stay in a Hostel. This was a pleasant experience. Good WiFi! Beds were pretty comfortable. There was no A/C, but we kept the windows open and were cool enough. Plenty of outlets! The ladies restroom was clean.

Good connections and good breakfast-
Excellent place, good connections with Ubahn and bus. The staff is really nice and helpful. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, but it just needs to be better well kept.

Stay again but different room.
Great spot location etc. Easily walked into the center of Berlin. The only issue was some noise from the court yard especially in the morning with the delivery truck.

One short night solo stay
The checkin/out is good. I stayed only for 1 short night before heading to the airport so it is ok but remark that the Bathroom is not clean.

Good Berlin option, beware some internet problems.
Actually a pretty good hostel. I had two major issues. ZERO wifi in room. No signal strength at all even on laptop. In common areas signal strength is good. Also hostel was PACKED with 12-15 year olds. Not my cup of tea lol. Location wise its not bad, less than 1k to a metro. Nice game room and bar.

Best hostel experience ever
I wish every hostel was like this one! Clean, comfortable, safe, right temperature, quiet, updated, enough bathrooms & very friendly staff. It sets an example for other hostels in the world.

soso- if you don't mind a long long walk-
the hostel was kind of far away from where all the action was- it was nice the lobby area was 24/7 but not much to do here so I usually spent most of my time at other hostels or away. I also got kicked off wifi a lot.

Cheap and I would recommend it
I needed a place to stay for my early morning flight and this hostel is near Tegel Airport. I arrived at Berlin Hbf past 7pm and took a bus to U Turmstr. Google map says that from here it would take 6 minutes to walk to the hostel but it took me at least 10 minutes. The streets on the way here are not well lit and not many people around so it's unnerving for a woman like me to walk alone at night. The lounge area next to the reception was bustling with young people. But the hallways and the rooms themselves were quiet which is good. The toilets and shower area were clean. The bed was good enough for a night stay. Would have been better if there are lockers in the room. Upon check-in, you'll be handed with clean bed linen. You have to make your own bed. And you also have to bring the used linen on check-out. I paid 10€ for a taxi from this hostel to Tegel Airport terminal C. By the way, it was my first hostel experience and I was pleasantly surprised to have had a good experience.

Budget comfort stay
Affortable stay. Hostel overall clean and nicely decorated. No problem with shared bathroom always available, probably because Jan is off season. Shared kitchen convenient for breakfast making. Location is easily accessible with public transport especially TXL bus to airport.

Only one complaint
Some guest were inconsiderate at late hours and I didn’t feel like the staff at the desk did well at assuring guests coming back in late were considerate of other guests that were asleep I was woken up at very late hours multiple times. A noise curfew should be enforced.

Good deal for the cheap price
Amstel House does a great job of making a stay in a hostel as pleasant as it can be. That being said, it's definitely still a hostel. The bunk beds creak and there's no guarantee the people you're sharing a room with will be remotely respectful, though three of my four nights were still reasonably good for sleep. The inner courtyards are bustling with very loud deliveries, and with no air conditioning in the summer that means everyone facing inward is going to need hefty ear plugs to sleep past 8am. The beds were unexpectedly very comfortable, having a sink in the room was a nice touch. The location is fine if you plan to explore during the daytime, but if you're in Berlin to check out the night life it's quite inconvenient to get back to after the trains stop running .

Awesome staff. Super friendly and helpful. 24hr bar on site which was really nice! Tons of brochures, information and a huge map at the front desk for tours etc. Found that really helpful to have right when we arrived to plan our days. Clean rooms. Large windows which were nice to cool down the place at night. Only negative was that we were facing a back alley (where they loaded the kitchen supplies and food I believe) so we were woken up daily but loud banging. Beds and pillows were actually really comfy, better than a lot of the other placed we stayed. We had our own bathroom. A little small but worked well. Did have a large mirror in the room which was really helpful when 2 people are getting ready in the morning. They had hair dryers for loan which was really useful since mine stopped working. About 5-7 min walk to the train station so it was easy to get around. Close to a market place and a busy street with lots of businesses. Overall we had a good stay and would recommend.

Great hostel experience!
Friendly staff! Good breakfast spread for only 6€. In-house bar with happy hour makes me a happy girl! They were also grilling burgers on Friday night, great for socialising. Very decent toilet/shower facilities that are cleaned twice a day, can rent a towel for 1€. Rooms come with lockers, but need your own lock. Near a market hall, supermarkets, u-bahn station and bus stops; easy to get around!

Very cheap and so value for money. Rooms had no air con or fans and so were uncomfortably warm. Local area is a bit far out from the centre but good public transport available. Staff we extremely friendly and helpful and willing to help with directions and suggestions. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating area to relax and have a drink from the very reasonable bar. Overall a lovely stay aside from the heat!

Staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful, was very impressed with all the staff. The rooms were clean and well presented, mattress was slightly too soft but I know that’s personal opinion. Would definitely stay here again and would absolutely recommend to friends.

Good value accommodation
This hotel was well presented. Reception and bar staff very friendly. We never used the kitchen or facilties as we treated it as a hotel. There are a couple of bars close by which is handy if you dont want to go into the city. There is a U-bahn station 5 min walk away so very easy access to the city. It is close to a main street where there is takeaways shops etc. My only complaint was the noise, our room window overlooked the bar which was open late and the noise travelled. But thats to be expected i suppose.

Questionable neighborhood
Overall the experience was okay. The location of the hostelnis about 30 minutes walking from the Berlin train station. However, you will pass through a shady neighborhood and smell marijuana on a consistent basis. The rooms are spartan at best. Showers and toilets are male and female. Security, did not feel comfortable staying here after some guy was knocking at our door trying to return one of my roommates missing key. He knocked and since everyone was in the room we shouted, " wrong room", he proceeded to open the door and give the key to the roommate who was sleeping. I don't know whether she knew what was going on since it was past midnight. Luckily nothing happened but it was a little unnerving to say the least. The breakfast buffet wasn't worth the 5 euros you pay. Other than that the hostel was okay.

Especially from our school groups we always receive good feedback about our neighborhood, where teachers claim to feel the safety of students everywhere. We are also sorry that someone knocked at your door late at night. Unfortunately we cannot control such things. Next time, if there is any bad feeling, come to us at the reception. We will be happy to help and serve you. About the breakfast, we find 5,50 € a fair price for what we offer. Besides Coffee, juices and aromatic water flavors the buffet has fruits, cereal, scrambled eggs, different kinds of cheeses, cold meats, vegan options, jellies of different flavors, nutela, butter, margarine, salad, different types of breads and sweets. Nice for the price but not comfortable
This hostel was really cheap for the price but the room condition was disappointing. It was totally different comparing to the picture. The room is really dark and not colourful as the photo. It only had one plug in the room but I and my friend have 5 electronic devices that have to charge. I prefered to pay a higher price for a better room.

Good hostel for everyone
Stay here with friends in 4-bed mixed room for 3 nights and highly recommend this hostel to travelers. Nice young people at the reception desk, very easy check in, everything already pre-prepared at the arrival. Elevator in the house.

I really enjoyed my stay at Amstel hostel. Staff members were very polite and efficient. The location is not the best. However, the metro station is only 4 blocks so you can be in the city centre in 25/30 minutes.
