I would not recommend this property if you’re looking for comfort. There was no hot water the entire week, the food was mediocre at best, and the property needs a serious remodeling. The pillowcases are off white/brown and not very clean. Very outdated and I was very unimpressed.

Staff reception service was terrible. We paid for a junior suite only to find tattered furniture. The hotel advertised 3 different restaurants as available without reservation however it was one buffet just 3 seating areas for the same tasteless food. The reservation restaurants were good but not truly reservations. You had to interrupt each eve to get there early to wait on line or risk not getting a table and being left with the buffet as the only other option. Location was great as was pool area. Gym was small and mediocre. Some staff was amazing. Others cranky. Spa service was below average and overpriced.

Staff were courteous and were always cleaning the property. Hotel is very large but plenty of staff to stay on top of the facility. Plenty of restaurant choices with various types of food available most anytime you wanted to eat.

Bring shampoo, conditioner and lotion. They don’t regularly put them in your bathroom. The staff, the beach, and the food are great. The resort is located in a nice area. The shows were okay. I didn’t enjoy the music much. I like the Mexican music, but there was barely no music for people who enjoy dancing Salsa, Merengue or Bachata at night. I would love to come back, though.

The quality of food was good and room services were excellent. We stayed in a room near the pool, we were supposed to get a seaview room, but our view was partially blocked by the building underneath. I have stayed at other RIU but I find this hotel to be outdated. They have curtailed everything feasible in the room. They is no gratuities in the room. Little appreciation as lotion and other toiletries. I had everything but the tought of entering an hotel room and be greeted with these toiletries is refreshing. The shower is outdated. They need to update the rooms and spruce up. I was not pleased with the room. Plus closing of the door was disturbing.

So sad to be leaving! My family and I really enjoyed our vacation week. There was always activities for our teen (water polo, volley ball, beach soccer, relay races) and the shows at night were great. The buffet was enormous, something for everyone and then some. Our favorite theme dinner was the Japanese place for sure. The bartenders at the wet amd drinking bar were by far the happiest and funniest, although all bartenders were amazing. Make sure if you stay, you get towels and put them on some beach chairs at 7am or you will not have seats during day- theyre full by 730am. We will def be back, riu!

Third time staying at the Riu Cancun. Excellent all around: friendly, attentive staff; clean; variety of food options; and simple entertainment poolside & in the evening. My only complaints are 2 of 3 treadmills in the gym/spa were not working (plus there is room to add more cardio equipment); 4x our keys needed to be reset as they didn't work (& we were on floor 15), and you best get to the pool before 7:30 am if you want a chair near the pool as families of 8 send one person to save chairs en masse (chairs which sometimes go unused all day). There should be a better policy in place for that.

The food was not good. You think there is a lot of restaurants but there are no reservations so getting into one is impossible which means you will end up at the buffet for every meal. The room was very old. When we would request things such as conditioner it would take them over 2 hours to bring it to our room. The property is cute, the pools are very nice and easy access to the beach.

The rooms need a serious upgrade. Keys wouldn’t work, paid for ocean view but could not see the ocean, food was good. Some staff members were excellent, others not so nice. Unfortunately would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Riu Cancun can do bettet.

I liked the view had beach access and next to the beach.Hotel was in a nice area.staff was very friendly and nice.They all spoke english.Had intreating at night.The food was good.what it bothered me was the r bathroom didn’t have inspiration which it made the rooms to smell moldy I’m washing my clothes back home and I can still smell thet in all my clothes.The other thing I needed to mention is the elevator need an update.They are soooo slowwwwwww!!!We had to wait forever all the time.
