Made to feel like a criminal
We booked as a family of five on hotels.com we were shown to a room for 4. My husband said we are 5, the receptionist said “don’t worry we aren’t going to chuck you out”, I was baffled. Then Zoe rings us asking for more money, I went down and showed her I had genuinely booked for 5. The words “one off” were used several times, we will let you stay as a one off. Just a second, I drive 2 hours, all very excited to be greeted by two staff that made me feel I had done something wrong, tried to be sneaky & I was in the wrong!? I booked for 5 people! I had even rung up to pay for breakfast, in advance, for 5 people and again Zoe says I’ll let you have that, no I paid for 5 on the advanced rate, there were no freebies here, I paid what was due. If you allow other sites to sell your rooms at the very least check what they are selling. It ruined to rest of the stay, I couldn’t wait to leave, I was made to feel like a criminal. For nearly£500 this hotel was also not up to standard, beds felt too soft and like sleeping on springs, pillows rock hard and too big. Kids beds are just the cheap put up ones. Indoor pool very tired and small, gym looked great. Outdoor pool was fine but the loungers need replacing and discoloured/grubby. I wasn't asked about my stay on check out otherwise I would have fed back in person. This is not a top rate hotel. All it has going for it is the view. Not at all like our last stay with hotels.com at Gidleigh Park, now there’s a hotel is go back to again.

Delightful in every way
Off the beaten track (isn’t everything in Cornwall?) but well signposted. Friendly reception, nice bar and good food in the resturant. Breakfast was a bit of let down however (too long under the lamp). Indoor pool was being refurbished but a free anytime shuttle to a sister hotel to use their facilities was possible. Great room, and friendly maintenance/support staff.

Our stay at St Moritz hotel was adequate. The room was fine but small, on ground level and facing other hotel buildings in a highly trafficked area of the hotel. It was very hot to we had to have the window open to try to keep cool, but this meant we could hear a lot of outside noise as other guests walked past the room. Breakfast was decent but expensive. A lack of a decent bar for a sundowner was also noted.

Great hotel, but some disappointing surprises.
The hotel, facilities and surroundings are great, the service excellent and the food very good. The value of the food is not great, particularly the breakfast. The food is good but we expected more for the price. Also we booked a suite for 2 adults and 2 children and expected proper beds for all of us so were surprised that the children had to sleep on very basic fold-out beds which were very soft and very uncomfortable.

Excellent experience
What a lovely place to stay tastefully decorated and furnished. The attention to detail excellent food all underpinned by the incredibly friendly, helpful , courteous staff. My wife and I had a wonderful stay and cannot thank you all enough.

Fabulous service, beautiful suite, excellent facilities. Only downside was the biomass smoke constantly blowing over our balcony but I guess can't be helped although may have been better to place this away from the accommodation.

From South coast to North
Cleanliness excellent Double bed comfortable but spoiled by much too big a quilt and sheet making it hot and heavy and sheet wrinkling. Hard to understand how to switch on TV. The Hotel itself was excellent staff superb food excellent also great outdoor pool, very warm. The gardens were good too. Would definitely visit again

Really great helpful and attentive staff. Fabulous breakfast. Amazing location and friends who used the pool etc, said it was great. The 'Cosy rooms' are quite small and our small mattress was saggy / knackered, rolling into the middle. After a fair nights sleep it didn't seem that bad that we should ask for it to be changed but then regretted this on the second night. It really wasn't up to scratch. Otherwise it is a lovely hotel, in an amazing spot and the lots of staff were great. Restaurant was little pricey but nice food. I am always amazed how many hotels don't ask if everything was ok when you check out- they did and seemed to care that they want to get it right.

Guy at reception desk at night, wouldn't help us get a can of coke for our mini bar so we could have a mixer for our drinks.. it disappointed me because it's a lovely hotel, I believe they could of helped but nothing he could do apparently...
