Very comfortable beds . Walking distance to Newgrange. Would be nice to have option for some dinner . But otherwise great.

Close but a little off
The lodge was simple and EXTREMELY close to Newgrance, which was nice. The bathroom had a aweful mildewy smell that wouldn't go away. Plus it was freezing cold even though we had the heat up as high as we possibly could in the room.

Good stay next to Newgrange/Knowth sites
We booked a family room and found it very comfortable. The breakfast was basic and the staff was friendly. They were able to provide us with a baby cot which was handy. The hotel is across the street from the entrance to the Newgrange/Knowth site.

Great spot altogether 👌
Great place plenty of parking not a big room but adequate for us. Continental breakfast was grand and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The room we were given was large and roomy with a nice view. The lodge has a very inviting and relaxing atmosphere. Where breakfast is served, the rooms are filled with the charisma of the stone and wood from the original structure. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, wonderful stay for our family.

Smell of damp
We stayed there for a wedding. Staff are lovely and overall it was nice. But bathroom was so mouldy I went home to shower. The smell of damp also was very strong. It is a shame as the place could be very nice .

The hotel was ideal for a tour of the nearby Newgrange and Neath mounds. The room was comfortable and a good size. Staff were very helpful for advising on nearby tourist sights. However, one slight criticism was that the breakfast area was a bit small for the number of guests at the hotel. This area should be expanded. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

Close proximity to Newgrange Welcome Center
Pleasant staff, adequate parking for guests. Room was clean and comfortable. The lodge is across the road from the Newgrange Welcome Center which provided convenient access to the sites. Breakfast is buffet style (good selection) - remainder of meals must be obtained offsite. Soft drinks and coffee are always available at the lodge.

Highly Recommend
Stayed two nights because of the proximity to Dublin and location near Newgrange. We had a hotel room with a bathroom which was clean. The beds were comfortable and the staff very accommodating. Shower had great water pressure and the water was hot! There is ample parking - which is FREE (if you’ve ever been to some hotels in Ireland you know that parking often costs money!). Breakfast was included and was decent and included hot and cold food choices. If you’re looking for a hotel close to Dublin (and a reasonable distance by car to Belfast) or to explore the megalithic sites of Knowth, Newgrange, Tara, etc. then this is the place.

Nice hotel, great location
We stayed at the lodge for a nearby wedding, and it was the best option for our budget. Rooms are clean and comfortable, there are plenty of nice communal areas so you don't have to keep to your room. Plenty of breakfast options the next morning. Staff in reception are very friendly and extremely helpful. Its literally across the road from the newgrange visitors centre and there is plenty to do in the area. So we will be coming back with the kids next month for a holiday!

Good value. Friendly service. Adequate room with compact ensuite. Good breakfast. Quaint village with several pubs, a few places to eat. 40 minutes drive to Cliffs of Moher.

Perfect for Newgrange
First of all, my son and I stayed in one of the double rooms - NOT the dormitories. We also stayed at the satellite site (Rock House), 300 metres up the road. The Hostel itself has a very warm and cosy feel to it, with the common areas pretty much true to the impression one gets from the photos on the web site.. And Dennis the member of staff in reception when we arrived was a gem. However, the room we stayed in looked nothing like the room I booked online. Not that there was anything wrong with it - but the rooms in Rock House, all look a lot more tired than the photos on the web. So if you are someone who is affected by the aesthetics of a room, you will be disappointed if you rely on the photos on the web. It is worth pointing out that a family staying in Rock House with us, were very disappointed with the state of the rooms, the smell, and the noise. And I must say that I have to agree. They were on the ground floor, and it was smelly and noisy down there. Our room was acceptable, but also suffered from noise. However, the biggest complaint I have is that Rock House appears to have hot water provided by storage heater. In other words, I think we showered after the family of four showered, which meant that My son got two minutes of hot water, and I had to take a cold shower. As you can imagine - I was not very impressed with that. With regards to breakfast - the dining room is extremely cramped. However, the food was well cooked. Like I said - perfect for Newgrange.

Overall fine with a hostel vibe
The rooms themselves were fine, and the overall facilities as well. However, this is a hostel first and a hotel second. The vibe and service level is that of a hostel, while the rooms we had were newly renovated and in good condition so on par with a cheaper hotel. The one complaint for the rooms was that they were chilly with what seemed like a bit lacking heating. There was no food available at the hotel (most guests cook themselves), but there is an Inn up the road. Selection is scarce though. The location is however close to the Newgrange monument entrance.

Hostel Heaven (of sorts.)
All in All this is a nice place to stay in summer with all the buzz of the kids adventure activities. HOWEVER. Management please note. If you are going to charge Hotel rates (albeit lower end prices) Then really you need to up the game on the breakfast availability front Why not just let people make their own breakfast after Ten am. Easy just leave the stuff out for us. Other than that minor detail Very nice place to stay with lovely helpful staff. Bit expensive for a hostel though.

Excellent ho(s)tel from which to visit Newgrange
Excellent geographical location next to the Newgrange Visitor Centre and close to other Boyne Valley places of interest. The room was basic but clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. The public lounge and sunroom well furnished with armchairs and sofas. The continental breakfast fine - eat as much as you want! I would really recommend this to those on a limited budget. Child friendly.

Good location, but...
We only stayed here due to its proximity to Newgrange megalithic site and the ability to get there early for tickets. It was very noisy the night we stayed, with a huge racket at 3am which woke us with a start. The room was small, pretty basic and not in great condition. Sound-proofing was poor. The double bed had a big sag in it on my side, so I slept in the single bed which was also crammed into the room. While the sheets were clean, the bathroom wasn't particularly so. The breakfast (included in the price) was OK - cereal, juice, toast and a pancake maker, if you wanted. But there were a lot of flies in the breakfast room.
