I love this hotel. It is quirky and old, but well maintained. The signage was improved this time, and I was able to find my room easily. On a previous stay this was not the case, and I wandered around a bit. My room faced an alley and it got quite noisy, especially early in the morning. The radiator and towel warmer appeared to have leaked a bit, but worked well. The staff are just lovely, always helpful.

The hotel was delightful and very historic. In a great location within walking distance of many sites. Most importantly the staff was Top Notch and very accommodating with great attention to detail. They enjoyed their work and each other which was quite evident, and because of that they provided excellent service. I would recommend anyone to go there; The Price is Right and a great variety of breakfasts are included

Room is very comfortable and clean. Very noisy outside at all hours. No ability to provide any air circulation on warm days. Insufficient towels provided: two beds but one set of towels. Excellent restaurant in basement. Excellent breakfast. Courteous staff. Excellent location: close to heart of downtown, train station and Trinity college. I would return next trip for sure.

Excellent in all respects. A family run business that makes you feel welcome. A deceptively large hotel considering the picture of the front. It is made up of a number of Georgian town houses and has lovely period style furniture in the common areas. There is a bar and restaurant on site (bar open late!) They have live music and Irish dancing on Friday and Saturday nights which was very enjoyable and the busy area of residence had a great sing song, a nice way to round off the evening. If, like us you were attending a gig at Croke Park, it is 10-15 mins walk. For shopping, 5 minutes walk to the main areas and another 5 gets you to the river. Rooms were clean and tidy, hairdryers supplied and daily cleaning. Special mention to Jonathon who checked us in, good tips on where to eat etc and a pleasant dry sense of humour that I am sure some will not catch! 10/10 if we return to Dublin, we would actively seek this hotel out and only stay anywhere else if this one was fully booked! I have seen a few comments about this not being suitable for people with mobility issues, but saw a number of people doing just fine. There are a couple of small slopes in hallways and a number of stairs, but there are 2 lifts also and the slopes are very gentle and short, so do not be put off! We do alot of city breaks and if all properties were like this I would be happy. PS - Great breakfast included, either hot or continental, or as asome people did....BOTH!

Very conveniently situated for Croke Park. My room was fine. The bed was comfortable but I don’t like synthetic pillows. Nice shower room that looked newly fitted. As it is an old hotel everything creaks and the walls are thin so noise was a bit of a problem. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Overall a good stay.

It was near Croke Park as we had booked for Gareth Brooks concert. We traveled by car and the hotel had been very honest with us prior to arrival by letting us know parking spaces were limited so we booked a city centre car park as backup. We were very fortunate to get a parking space at rear of hotel. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Rooms were spotless as well as the bathroom and shower. More of a character hotel and could hear ones in the room next door to us but didn’t bother us as only staying a night. In a good area of Dublin for Croke Park and also near enough to walk to city centre and Grafton Street

Ornate building, friendly staff, modernisation?
We arrived in Dublin to one of the hottest weeks ever! The temp between 20C - 29C the entire stay with only one day - our last day being over cast. You may wonder why I started my review with this information but it is very relevant. We checked in and were allocated a family room on the ground floor that was street facing - we were worried about noise but had already overheard another guest asking to change rooms and being told there weren't any free, so thought we'd see how we got on - pleased to say other then the same kind of traffic noise we experienced at home it wasn't really any worse - however the windows were shut the entire time (more on that shortly). So as I mentioned the heat, old building no air conditioning (not usually required) windows locked shut due to being ground floor street facing, wow stifling was an understatement, one desk fan provided that just circulated the already hot air! Sweaty nights sleep for our entire stay. The room was clean, but looked tired in places. Fresh towels were provided daily and there was shampoo, bodywash and soap provided. However the water pressure was non existent, it was thick trickle rather then flow meaning you had to stand almost against the wall to wash. The gym mentioned on hotels.com as a facility is no longer in use. Breakfast was good. Bit of a disappointment for a 4 star rated Hotel The hotel is situated a 5 minute walk from O'Connell Street and the main centre of Dublin great for venturing out on foot.

The Castle Hotel is located in walking distance of many restaurants and tourist areas, but the parking is very difficult if you aren’t accustomed to narrow and small parking areas. The hotel itself is not very updated and the room we stayed in had an awkward configuration. Luckily, we were there for one night, so it was manageable. The staff are very friendly.

Great location, friendly staff
This is a nice hotel close to a lot of Dublin attractions. It seems to be a bunch of buildings that have been renovated to connect, so there are multiple elevators and staircases, and some rooms can only be accessed using stairs. We thought this added to the charm. Rooms are small, and with the windows open it was a bit noisy. Mattresses were thin and not comfortable. But overall we enjoyed our stay because of the great location, good breakfast, and friendly staff.

there was no quietness. the windows in the room opened up only enough for a hand to get in and out of if. We got in to Dublin at 5am and we did not get a room until 2:30pm that afternoon. even though we called 48hr a head to let them know. the bed in the room was so hard and uncomfortable. the person that clean are room did a half of a job. so i would not let them cleen my room untill we left. the sheets on the bed i notice that leat minutes befor we left. had a stain or something on it and they cover it up with 2 other sheets. so for now on i and checking every place i stay at now for not clean sheets. In the other had the staff was nice, friendly, helpful. The food was great. they need for had santiziers in the billing if they are not going to clean every half hr. i know it a old billing but wish for future success to at less fix the windows so they opened up more, get at AC,and or pervade at Fan in the rooms. i know Ireland normally do not get this hot like it did this time around. trust me i know. i been Ireland and stayed in Dublin plenty of time. that would be helpful. Also please let the cleaning staff know. yes Covid 19 is still around they really need to clean and lot more better. expressly when is a plder billing.

Went during June/July so windows needed to be open to circulate the air. Unfortunately, it was very loud due to seagulls, many buses and random people on the street during ALL hours of the night. Bring earplugs! Location was good and the hotel service people were nice. No shelves in shower to hold shower products. No wash cloths for showering. Due to loudness of birds and random people on the street during all hours, I won’t stay there again. If you aren’t a light sleeper like me, it is a nice quaint hotel in a optimal location.

This property had great staff and service. The breakfasts were wonderful and we felt well served each day. We also had friendly service that would answer all our questions. The bar/restaurant downstairs had live more traditional Irish music as well. Our o Lu downside was that room 132 did not have a tub of any sort. We had a stand up shower but it was just the tile on the floor and there was no boundary for the tub space so our floor was always wet and we had to lay out towels when we showered which was not helpful when we had three of us in the room and the floor was very wet each time. We also had the loudest seagulls outside our room so we had to run the fan all night so we didn’t hear them so loud. Otherwise the character of the property was great and we enjoyed our stay and we were very close to the city center and transportation to all things.

Staff were helpful. Hotel itself is really outdated. Rooms were very small - we had two and they were very noisy and stuffy. If you open the window there’s a lot of traffic and noisy activity. We had to wear ear plugs and a fan! The location is however good for downtown access and public transport. Plumbing was bad in one of the rooms - very low water flow for showers. It’s a real pain lugging luggage to rooms too- lots of doors and stairs. The bar was also dead at night. I wouldn’t stay there again.

The staff at The Castle Hotel are truly exceptional --- always smiling and consistently helpful. The property itself features a collection of well designed lounges that are made available for all guests. The hotel's food was consistently tasty and well-priced (my room rate included a full Irish breakfast at no cost each morning). For the two dates of my stay, free evening entertainment was provided by the hotel - a step dancer who was stunning in her skills and a delightful singer who had an impressive repertoire of songs. Most importantly, my room was a delight --- quality linens, excellent toiletries and plush towels and it was quiet. What a pleasurable stay!

We loved our stay at the Castle Hotel. It occupies several converted Georgian houses, making it L shaped and a bit of a labyrinth inside- a beautiful, magical labyrinth. No danger of getting lost; directions to the rooms are all well marked, and it's great fun. I loved the decor, especially the framed sheet music of old songs. The staff are absolutely delightful and happy to answer any questions you have. We booked a triple, and were delighted that we were put in a suite with two bathrooms. Lots of space, and a nice view of the church and the park from our windows. Temperature was very pleasant, and beds were very comfortable. Water pressure was so-so, and one of the bathrooms had very slow drains, but as there were two, we didn't mention it since it didn't affect our stay. Plenty of towels, replaced daily. Be patient with the water temperature; it can take a while to warm up (typical for many older hotels). Breakfast is good, with a hot or cold option; you can get a Full Irish breakfast if you want (we did once; it's a lot of food). The area is very good- short walking distance from main shopping areas, and maybe 10-15 minutes walk to the GPO. A delightful stay at a delightful, historic hotel. I was so sad to leave and look forward to going back. Highly recommend.

The Castle Hotel was perfect for my sisters and I. We chose a room with 3 single beds. It was an easy walk to places of interest. The breakfast was amazing as you had a choice of hot cooked foods or a cold breakfast. I met the owner and he was asking about service. My only comment is that there were a lot of steps. I would return.

Location is excellent! You are just a 5 minute walk from public transportation, restaurants, supermarkets and O’Connell street. Beyond that is The Temple Bar area and lots of shops within 15-20 minutes walk. The room itself was super quiet and clean. Not once were we bothered other than they wanted to clean our room daily but we were fine. We got to hear Ed Sheeran first night of his tour from the hotel room we were so close to Croake Park. Was able to walk to Croake Park safely and comfortably the next evening for our concert. A restaurant is on site that we tried to visit but they were full so book ahead or go to Parnell’s Bar and Pub close by. It was excellent! Would stay here again if ever in that part of the world again.
