Loved staying in a hotel that was once actually a castle, beautifully appointed room with a window looking out on the older part of the building that we loved. The hotel is very well-designed, even with the modern entranceway, once you step inside it feels like a castle. The fireplaces were beautiful to sit and have a glass of wine, the high ceilings, the staircases, and our room itself with its comfortable bed were all fantastic. The modern, spotlessly clean bathroom was great, but they only provided one set of towels (one bath towel) for two people so we would have had to request a second towel. Not sure if that was just an oversight, but for such a nice hotel, it seemed odd. We had dinner in The Knights' Inn bar, and that was somewhat disappointing. The server took a long time to take our order and the food was brought out before the cocktails. My daughter ordered a salad which was bland and had to ask for dressing, as there was none provided. I ordered a vegetarian Thai curry which was not very tasty and not presented well. The soup was good, though, and we had ordered a goat cheese and mushrooms appetizer which was delicious. I guess my expectations for a "dinner in the castle" were too high, but I felt that the service and the food itself were sub-par and the menu did not have enough options. I believe there is a restaurant on-site which offers a fine dining experience but it was closed on the night we were there. The breakfast the next morning was very good though.

We loved the Castle! It was beautiful! Staff was friendly Rooms were clean! We had so many laughs and so much fun hanging out at the bar lounge, by the fireplace and the outcove outside of the bar! I can’t wait to go back

Beautiful castle with plenty of history and artwork to explore. Very helpful staff on the reception desk after we had an issue with the wi-fi, they were very responsive. Unfortunately the stay was let down by very poor service in the bar restaurant, it was painfully slow. There was also an unpleasant smell in the room, coming from the sink. The bed was very comfortable and the room a good size. Great transport links, very easy to get a bus into the city. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The property is gorgeous! The staff is welcoming, helpful, and well-versed in helping navigate Dublin. The room was clean with a comfortable bed and rain shower. Would stay again!

The knights bar was really nice with friendly staff and the food was delicious. We were disappointed by the service in the Fahrenheit restaurant as the staff were rude and seemed to be inconvenienced by serving patrons, we had to constantly grab their attention for service. Overall our stay at Clontarf was excellent and would definitely visit again in the future.

Great castle/hotel. It looks and feels more of a 5-star than a 4-star property. King’s Suite is very spacious and luxurious. Good food options and breakfast buffet. Convenient to downtown Dublin (15-min) and airport. Will definitely go back.

A unique and charming property that is housed in the remains of an old castle. The rooms were nice, comfortable and quiet. The hotel itself was beautiful although the modern artwork clashed with the ambience of the hotel in my opinion. The front desk staff was excellent, as was the staff in the bar. The staff in the buffet restaurant seemed to be from another planet - they did a lot of wandering around but were not very interactive or efficient. We ate there every day and it was the same each day. Getting a response out of the staff there was always a challenge. But the food was good. The hotel is within walking distance of a large park along the waterfront/harbor, as well as few restaurants, coffee shops, and other businesses. It’s close to the airport but not as convenient to the heart of Dublin. But it’s in a nice quiet area of the city.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Clontarf castle. The check in staff were fantastic, very friendly and great with our baby. The room we were given was lovely, clean and with comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent too. We will definitely stay here again.

All of the workers at Clontarf castle were so helpful and polite. I really appreciate that they upgraded us when we arrived, and so we got to stay in a family room which gave us a bit of extra space. Also, the food at all of the restaurants was very good, and the room service was very prompt. I will say, some places, like the Violet Lounge, could use some additional signage to make it clear whether or not you need to wait to be seated or not. Other than that, I loved my stay here.
