At one time this older hotel was probably beautiful but is now a bit run down. Great place for families but not for couples without children. I was not aware there was a fun park right next door and would not have booked had I known. Although the food that we had served in the lounge was excellent along with the service.

Nice hotel terrible stay

Posted 08-Jul-2018
Stay was terrible at a nice property. Hotel had overbooked wedding venues and had 2 receptions going on simultaneously. One with live band playing very loudly was directly opposite our wing. Music blasted until after 0130 am and staff were not able or willing to do anything about it

Pros: All was very good.
Cons: Needs air conditioning.

Scenic location

Posted 29-Jun-2018
This historic hotel has a beautiful water front location, is well maintain and kept clean. The staff are professional, very friendly and although busy remain focused on helping each individual. The location is a couple of miles outside of town, which helps maintain a country house feel, with easy reach of the tourist center. Value for money and will return

Two Days in the Fog

Posted 24-Jun-2018
In Ireland in mid-June, a hotel on the beach isn’t really a good selling point. It was super windy & very chilly. We were a €15 taxi drive (1-way) from town, making eating there pretty expensive. The young woman who checked us in (light red hair & who didn’t use “lovely” as every other word) was wonderful and very helpful! She made dinner reservations for us, as well as contacting our tour bus for the next day and arranged for them to pick us up at the hotel). The breakfast each morning was OK- nothing special. We had to literally grab a waiter to bring us coffee. My main complaint was that we needed to open windows at night to cool the room down- which was very unpleasant, given that our room overlooked the fun park (rides and kids screaming until after 10:00 P.M.). So, if you book a room, try to avoid the east wing and book in August to enjoy the beach!

Great hotel with amazing views

Posted 23-Jun-2018
This hotel has everything you need for a holiday. It is located across from the promenade with a great walking path. Our room was quite large with space for a family of 4. The on-site leisure centre pool was clean and refreshing. The attached pub was great for a drink or a quick meal. We had breakfast in the dining room and the options were fantastic including a self-serve pancake machine. Highly recommend this hotel!
