A calm and beautiful oasis of hospitality.
Marrakech hustles and bustles. There is no shortage of people seeking to take advantage of a tourist. All that ceases at the door to beautiful Riad Al Kadar. You enter and are transported. Within you find a perfect fusion of old time Moroccan style with modern European amenities. Tile and stone work are beautiful. There are roses and citrus in abundance. Rooms surround the courtyard each one spacious, well appointed with excellent bathroom and shower. Breakfasts are feasts that change a bit each day. The wonder of the Riad is your host, Michele (mee-KEH-leh) an Italian gentleman with an unsurpassed gift for hospitality. He does not know the word "no." He will fulfill your every wish. Meals, transportation, advice, but also far beyond the standard. He found us a color printed banner for a presentation and a paper shredder (don't ask). We ate in various fun Marrakech restaurants. Our best meals were prepared by Michele himself. "We don't have time to go get lunch, Michele," "don't worry" 20 minutes later we're eating a beautiful Italian pasta with bread, wine, cheese in honey, salad, snacks, the works. In Marrakech don't do anything without first asking the price. With Michele, abandon all caution and place yourself in his hands. Ask for anything, let him deliver and depend that the bill for the extras will be beyond fair and reasonable. We travel extensively and have never been treated to a higher, better yet totally affordable oasis of hospitality..

Good atmosphere, long distance
It was our first time in Marrakech with my brother. I choose this Riad because of comments on Expedia. Good decoration related to Morocco culture with italian touch (his owner is italian). Great welcome with mint tea served by a berber women. As per expedia advise us that Riad had some problems with water, they solved, and put us in three different rooms each day, this let us to know different rooms. The room in firs floor has the problem that during morning other guests stayed at the living room in front of the bedrooom talking, if you want to sleep more, that would be unconfortable. Michelle (owner) was kind, however, he could be more customer service oriented to give recommendations to first time guesses, about right prices for taxis (for example he helped us to take a taxi that charge us 50 dhr (5 euros) to go to the Medina (that was around 10 minutes walking, but in the night it's hard to find a taxi. After we find that in the villa a taxi charge 15 dhr. Other thing was that he offered us to have dinner, and we paid the more expensive dinner that we had paid in Marrakech, 20 dhr (20Euros) by person, it was beef balls with sausage, tomatoe and olives salade, orange caramelized dessert. In general we ate for 6dhr each one. My mistake was not asked him before, but I would expected to pay at most 10dhr for the dinner. Lesson learned. When you travel thinking in stay in a Riad better choose to eat on the street restaurants close to the Medina. I felt deceived

Everything with Excellence
When you arrive, you feel you just arrived at a friends place, Michelle made us feel very welcome and does everything with excellence. We have never seen such a clean hotel. Michelle also walked us to the main square in Marrakech so we wouldn't get lost, which was really helpful. Thank you again for having us :)

Riad Al kadar
Beautiful interior, the renovation is faultless, with attention to period detail which gives the feeling of stepping back in time. Michele obviously loves his home and is a charming host. The breakfasts were delicious and varied, the cook (and her daughter) both very skilled and accommodating. The only problems were that, in March, it was a little chilly in the room at night, plus there is a mosque just across the street which has the most unmusical muezzin we have ever heard - and amplified! Woken up at 5 and again around 7, every morning. The location is in a pretty dumpy neighbourhood, full of mechanics' shops and dust roads. Also it is ONLY JUST inside the Medina and it's a good 45 mins walk to the Jamaa el Fna, not 15 as someone claimed. As a lot of road building was going on it's not a pretty or easy walk, either. We enjoyed our stay there but would find a place nearer the centre if we went back to Marrakech.

A beautiful and calm Riad
We had five days exploring Marrakech staying in the Riad al Kadar. It was the perfect option for us. A beautiful hotel on the edge of the Medina its ideal for those who want to stay a little bit away from the tourist bustle. Michele was our wonderful host ensuring that everything ran smoothly for our stay, providing us with recommendations for day trips and first hand tips on everything from buying spices to garden visits and endless supplies of mint tea! The Riad's food is delicious and beautifully presented. We especially liked the rooftop terrace for end of the day relaxation watching the sun set and the storks fly overhead. Cant wait for our next visit!

Beautiful Oasis in the old City
My husband, daughter, and I stayed at the Riad Al Kadar for four nights. Our host was wonderful and very accommodating. The Riad itself is very warm and beautiful. They prepared a delicious dinner for us one evening -- one of the best meals we've had. Please arrange for reliable transportation from the airport to the Riad -- ask Michele (host) to arrange for you. We can't stress that enough.

Feast for the senses in the Medina of Marrakech
Riad al Kadar is a delightful small riad in the medina of Marrakech, with 4 guest rooms arranged, in traditional style around a small courtyard. In a city of contrasts, the riad offers calm, comfort and luxury. Italian owner Michel is a model of hospitality, and nothing is too much trouble, whether its organising excursions, airport transfers, or a rendezvous with the hammam. The beauty and craftsmanship of the building and furnishings are mirrored by the delicious home-cooked food, which we would absolutely recommend. Lets just say that it wasn't enough just to eat the dishes prepared for us...we felt we had to photograph everything first too! Truly a jewel of a place- after a crazy day in the chaos of Marrakech, you will be very pleased to sink into a sofa and sip mint tea to the sound of the little fountain...

Home away from home
I took my mum here for a small getaway and this Riad couldnt have been better. Mikel the owner was absolutly amazing. He did everything he possibly could to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Beautiful Riad that was incredably clean and well looked after. We ate dinner every night which was plentiful. 3 courses for dinner which was home cooked traditional morroccan food. Our rooms were cleaned and tidied every morning and breakfast was always different every morning. (And lots of it!) We wod definitely be returning! :)

Wonderful Riad
We stayed in Riad al Kadah for the Easter weekend and though it is out of the centre, the walk back through local streets was easy once learnt. The Riad itself was very attractive and the service was excellent. It is next door to a mosque and the Call for Prayer can clearly be heard in the early hours however it was easy to get back to sleep!

Just 20 mins walk from Jemaa El Fna, this Riad is a quiet and tranquil resting place after the bustle of the city. Michele and his team provide a lovely welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Michele organised taxis, a restaurant booking and a day trip to the mountains. A highlight of our trip was the meal we had at the Riad, prepared by Michele. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!!

A hotel of class and comfort
This is a character full small (5 rooms) hotel. The owner has created an experience which balances the charm and luxury of a first class guesthouse with an authentic Maghreb ambiance. Nothing is too much trouble for a most sympathetic patron. Please make an effort to use French or Italian if you can, along with a curiosity of the local lifestyle and you will get a lot more from your stay.

The Jewel of the Medina, a superb stay!
We had a excellent stay at the Riad Al Kadar. We could not have asked for a better hospitality from the owner who manages the raid and maintains very high standards across the board. Michele goes beyond his call of duty to ensure that your stay is comfortable and pleasant all the time. Breakfast are a real treat. You should try their homemade dinners. I highly recommend the pastilla!! Marrakech is city to be discovered where you can find beautiful things as well as become overwhelmed by the sounds, colors and smells. You just need to observe and learn in your first day. Don't hurry to buy the first thing you think because you are wound to find fine, high quality handicraft once you have been there for a couple of days. Marrakech people are one of the best business people I have ever encounter in the whole world so do not be shy an negotiate a good deal for both parties!

Michele can also organise for you to have a traditional Morrocan dinner at the Riad, we would highly advise trying this at least once, both meals we had were so delicious.

One of the best places I have stayed
Small hotel, tastefully decorated and very very clean. Wonderful traditional layout. Staff were overly helpful. The owner was always available. Even accompanied us short distance to show us directions. Showed us point of interests on the map. Beakfast was included and way above our expectation. Can dine in with pre-arrangement and you won't be disappointed with the quality and the price. Hotel is located in the old part of the city and very much a poor residential area. However, this in fact puts it in the close vicinity where the tourists would want to visit. We walked to the squares and bazaar where all tourist attractions were. Overall, We will have no problem to go back to this family like hotel. Do not expect big hotel facilities such as Gym, sauna, big reception area or a door man. Otherwise, there is a very good chance you will be happy with you stay here.

nice place shame about location
Chose establishment as it was described as clean and quiet. It was. The owner was friendly and home cooked food very good. However it is located a good 20 minute walk from the main square through a less than pleasant section of the city. Once having navigated the journey, not an easy task, we were happy to walk during daylight hours but a taxi is required after dark. Located accross the Street from a smaller mosque it was convenient to be called to prayer but not for sleeping. Overall, okay, but I would not stay there again.

Wish we could have stayed there for ever!
Small Riad about 20 minutes walk from Jamee al Fna, the main square. Spotlessly clean. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room but owner will provide hot water, milk and sugar for you to make your own so take tea-bags and coffee. No fridge in room either. Huge breakfast with boilled eggs, fruit, granola, yogourt, cake, different types of bread, conserves, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice etc. Expedia description of rooms a little missleading. There are NO balconys only the corridor outside the 4 rooms overlooking the central courtyard. Private kitchen means the Riad can prepare meals on request, they are not a facility in your room. Lighting in rooms is beautiful but a little difficult to see if you want to apply make-up. Riad is beautifully furnished. Lots of attention to detail by the wonderful owner Michel. He made us feel like one of the family.

Simply brilliant
We would recommend Riad Al Kadar to anybody wanting to visit Marrakech. We had a wonderful stay with excellent food and a brilliant host in this beautiful riad. It may be slightly further out from the main square than other Riads, but the route to reach it is very simple - a real help for those who find Marrakesh navigationally challenging. Just wonderful, if we could change just one thing about our stay we would have eaten the fantastic Moroccan food served at the Riad more than just once.

Excellent hospitality and Service
On our arrival at Riad Al Kadar, we were met by the owner Michel who warmly welcomed us. As we had arrived late, Michel offered to make us something to eat. During our stay we came to realise that Michel could not do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble. He walked us part of the way to the famous Jemaa el Fna square the next day to allow us to get our bearings. Our room was spotless and overlooked a beautiful courtyard. Marrakech is a hectic place and the tranquility and hospitality we experienced when we returned to Riad Al Kadar each day made the trip extra special. The roof terrace was a lovely place to sit in the sunshine and relax. Something worthy of note is the fact this Riad is right beside a mosque which calls its congregation to prayer 5 times a day (one of these being at 5am every morning) but to be honest this did not impact on our stay once we adjusted to the magical tapestry which is Marrakech. It is also worth mentioning that this Riad is a good 20 minute walk away from the main tourist attractions, however I quite liked it being a little bit removed from the hustle & bustle of central Marrakech. I would highly recommend this Riad to anyone who wants good old fashioned hospitality and service.

Home from home with the warmest welcome...
The Riad is located in a quiet residential area of wide paved streets (not up some darken narrow alley way). A perfect resting place at the end of a day from the constant actions in Old Marrakesh. Once inside, the transformation is absolutely unbelievable, it is just calm and tranquil with the feel of home from home helped by Michele and his staff who are just perfect hosts. The inside of the Riad is rebuilt beautifully to reflect local traditional style and adorned and decorated exquisitely. The terrance too is a great place to relax and sun bathe. The main square Jemaa-El-Fna is only a 20 (max 30) Dirhams ride away in a petite taxi from Bab Ghemat and Bab Ghemat it self is only 5 minutes walk from the Riad. The breakfast was plentiful with variations every day. Dinner (which has to be pre-arranged in the morning) were of restaurant quality, freshly prepared (we had local cuisine) and delightfully served by the ever attentive Michele.
Just heavenly

The Perfect Riad
This beautiful Riad is situated about a 15-20 minute walk away from the main square in a local friendly, quiet (apart from the occasional call to prayer from the local mosque) neighbourhood. We spent 4 nights there and we LOVED it. The room we had was big, with a large comfortable bed and like the rest of the Riad immaculately clean. It has a relaxed and homely atmosphere which is a very welcome escape from the chaotic central Marrakech. A little bit of traditional Moroccan tranquility. There's even a roof terrace. This isn't the best thing about the place, Michel the Riad Al Kada's owner makes this already special place perfect. He makes you feel like a long lost friend from the moment you arrive to the minute you leave. He walked with us to near the square on our first night, left little cakes in our room as a treat on one night, and we decided to have dinner at the Riad one night which was the best food we had in a romantic setting, the highlight of our trip. There was even farewell hugs when we left. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Marrakech.

Not to be missed
In a quieter area around 15 minutes' walk from the main square, the unassuming exterior gives no impression of the beautiful and lovingly-maintained character of this building. Traditionally based around a garden courtyard, it feels more like a palace than a house, more so since we were very fortunate to be the only guests during our five-day stay. Breakfasts are delicious and generous, dinner is optional but highly recommended, and accomodation is first-rate, enhanced by great attention to detail and lovely little touches such as fresh flowers, pastries and fruit. Michel advised us on local attractions, assisted with excursions and transport, and his exuberant warmth and hospitality made us feel truly royal.

Holistic experience of Moroccan life
It is a boutique hotel with only 4 rooms in a typical Moroccan style house with a garden in the middle of the building and a lovely roof terrace. Immaculately clean and very stylish with every detail considered. It is run by an Italian guy who delivers a very personal service. It is not a hotel really but a holistic experience of the local lifestyle and atmosphere. Not recommended for people who expect a plastic 'supermarket' style of accommodation. Very good base for those who are curious and wishing to immerse themselves in a different environment. Try the dinners Michelle offers. They are an authentic home made version of Moroccan food prepared by one of the Moroccan ladies in house. Thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay!

Great place to stay
The Riad is situated in a residential area away from the chaos of the Madina. It is absolutely charming, very beautiful and clean. Our meals were delicious and very well presented - both breakfast and dinner. We were so very lucky to have Michel for our host. He was the most attentive, helpful and made our stay in Marrakech very enjoyable. Likewise his staff was the best. They totally spoiled my elderly mother. The Riad is within 15 minutes walk to the main square but it is not an easy walk because of the twists and turns of roads not probably signposted. The only small negative bit of our stay was communication with taxi drivers on the return journeys from our trips out. All the taxi drivers seem to be ignorant of the location of the Riad. I was able to overcome this problem by asking the taxis to take me to Bab Ghmat and proceed to walk the rest of the way.

Beautifully renovated riad with exquisite attention to the decor. It was lovely to stay in a quieter area of the city and we felt really safe walking to the main square, just 10 minutes away. Michel was a perfect host, always willing to help and accomodate our wishes. Our bedroom was spacious and complete with life saving air conditioning in such hot weather! The breakfasts were beautifully presented and varied each day. One night we ordered dinner and it was the best food we had eaten in Marrakech. It was relaxing to sit on the terrace in the evenings and we will certainly stay at this riad again when we revisit the city. Thank you Michel, for making our stay such a memorable experience.

Wonderful Hospitality
We have travelled widely but have never experienced the level of hospitality we received at this riad! Michaela has made this the perfect retreat and it is absolutely beautiful with fresh roses everywhere. Nothing had been overlooked and the rooms were spotless, the service top notch and the food as good as any you could hope to find. A really good variety for breakfast which is not usual in this country and we ate in both nights as the food was so good. This is a small riad with 5 rooms and you are made to feel very special. The only slight disadvantage is that it is a little further out from the centre of the Medina but it only took us 10-15 minutes to walk to the Saadian tombs and the attractions in that area. This is the perfect retreat.

Lovely and small.
The hotel is very sweet, and clean. Michel, the owner caters to his guests every need. The breakfast was great. The only downfall is the Riad's proximity to a mosque, which means that guests are awaken every evening by the call to prayer. Also, it is very difficult to find- but Michel will arrange for an airport pick up if you ask in advance. Don't rely on the wifi. It is very sporadic and weak.

Charming with potential
Absolutely beautiful riad. Comfortable bed. Hot water. Great breakfast. Warm reception with mint tea. Location is not great. Lots of other riad options closer to the square and restaurants. Very hard to find the riad, which is typical, but the owner is less helpful in this regard than I experienced elsewhere. For example, I stayed at Dar Cerrata my last two nights in Marrakech. The owner offered me a real map (although I already had one at this point) plus a hand drawn map which was invaluable in navigating the small alleys that exist in many of the riad neighborhoods. In addition, she provided me the cell phone number of a taxi driver who knows exactly where she is located. She also helped me find some great restaurant options. Riad Al Kadar leaves you more on your own to figure things out. In fact, when I asked for a restaurant recommendation, the owner didn't seem to really know of any. The one he ultimately sent me to was super touristy and not that good.

Absolutely Fantastic
The Riad Al Kadar, has been the best place that we have ever stayed. It is impeccably clean and the owner Michele is the perfect host. Nothing is too much trouble, he will organise your airport transfer, trips and excursions and even book you a Hammam. We ate at the Riad on 2 evenings and words cannot explain the quality and service of Michele's hospitality................it was more than perfect. The Riad is located 10-15 minutes from the main square, Djeema al Fna, but is quite easily found on foot. This allowed us to see and experience local life which you would not see if you stayed in a 'sterile 'hotel out of town. The area in and around the Riad and Marrakech as a whole is exteremly safe and we can say it is the safest country that we have ever visited. The souks in and around the Medina can give you a sensory overload, but to return to the Riad Al Kadar is a magical oasis where you can relax and unwind in peace and quiet. We cannot recommend this beautiful place enough and will return again........Insha'Allah

Lovely riad
This is a very well-managed, comfortable and lovely riad. It isn't as centrally located as some of the others but it is only a 10-15 minute walk away from the main square down small old streets and through souqs and its location makes it very quiet and peaceful. The owner is incredibly welcoming and helpful, as are his staff. This is a perfect riad for couples - the rooms are beautifully decorated, the central courtyard has been painstakingly restored and even the roof terrasse has had a lot of thought put into it. The breakfasts are an event in themselves - Moroccan bread, pancakes, honey, jams, fruit, delicious coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice is a brilliant way to start the day!
