Initial impressions of the location of the Riad at far end of the Medina with the narrow streets was a little daunting. This is however quite unfounded as once inside the Riad it is exactly as on the website, with friendly very warm natured staff who provide helpful advice on where to eat and arrange taxis to and from wherever we wanted to go to and enjoy explaining about the Morrocan culture. The breakfast was different every day and served to the table when ever we got up. The view from the roof is as one would except in the old town, with washing drying and most building in very poor repair from the outside. If you get lost in the medina, ( as many of the streets look the same, but are dead ends), the locals are really friendly and will happily escort visitors to where ever they want to go... For a small fee, £2-3, only higher if a number of usually young boys tag on and also request paying. Basic french is helpful, although many of the locals speak a little English. We booked a Morrocan meal with entertainment through Expedia before we travelled, but the highlight was a day trip to the Atlas Mountains where it had snowed but the weather was sunny with beautiful blue sky. Hiking boots and walking poles a must due to snow. In the town the open top bus is a great way to get about and see the main sites. We got a 2 day pass meaning we could get on and off on the 2 routes so we saw both the old town, the more affluent new town and shopping area plus out to the palmeries.
