Reception kept me waiting in the midst of a really loud wedding reception with vague promises of “your room will be ready in five minutes”.
30 minutes later our room was ready, had anyone said it would be 30 minutes, we would have left our cases with them and gone off to do something else, anything else apart from listen to an overly-amplified duo in the lobby.
Eventually we were taken to a room on 2nd floor. Is this wing in regular use?
I only ask because we exited the lift to a general scene of chaos: trollies, large bags of laundry, several cases of jugs and glasses; we had to squeeze by all of these obstacles.
When we got to the room, it was a very large room, however the bathroom smelled awful but we decided to try and make the most of our holiday despite the fairly 1 star experience so far.
We asked about the restaurant, however it was closed because of the wedding. If it had been made clear on the website that usualhotel services would be affected by a function then I may not have booked a stay at this hotel. The hotel management said “ you can order in the bar”
The bar was damp, with wine coolers being used to catch the rain as it dripped inside and with absolutely no atmosphere we decided to face some pounding rain and find food elsewhere.
After returning back to the room, the bathroom, after the cleaning fluids’ amazing powers had worn off, it smelled like something between a damp dog and clogged pipes.
Overall not a happy experience.
