Spectacular, wooden chalet-style house for a family or friends seeking to be immersed in nature without foregoing any of life's little luxurious, including that well-earned soak in the hot tub on the deck! Crafted with exceptional attention to detail, this architectural gem stands beneath the canopy of a redwood forest, through which the dappled sunlight filters through to all areas of the house below. A unique and enchanting home for a truly unforgettable holiday break.
The space
The high vaulted ceiling room, with wall to wall glass, literally becomes one with the surrounding area, giving you the air to breathe while you relax next to the decorative fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials, so you won't want to leave this place for any reason. Enjoy your dinner, after a soothing mindful time in the in-house sauna. Away from the daily routine, you can appreciate a glass of fine wine or relax on the comfy couch.
But I want to convey the fact that this house is not for everyone. While stunning architecturally, there are about 100 steps from the street level to the front door (which is what places you high up among the trees). Moreover, some of the bedrooms lack privacy in certain respects. On the lower level is the master bedroom and a single bedroom which are completely private from each other. Above the master bedroom on a mezzanine there is a bedroom with a queen sized bed. This overlooks both the master bedroom and the single bedroom on the lower level, which compromises the privacy of each of those two. Thus, if you are looking for absolute privacy, this house is great for three people who will utilize the master bedroom and single bedroom on the lower level. If you do not need absolute privacy, it is great for five people: two in the master bedroom, one in the single bedroom, and two in the mezzanine bedroom.
Guest access
You have full access to the property and all shared spaces.
Other things to note
Please note that because the house is located high in the redwoods, it is necessary to walk up stairs to reach the lower floor.
Another thing to keep in mind is that architecturally-wise the bedrooms are somewhat interconnected. In order to reach one of the single bedrooms, you would have to walk through the mezzanine bedroom with the queen size bed. The latter also looks over the other single bedroom and the master bedroom.
The Neighborhood
The house is only a few blocks away from Downtown Mill Valley's popular restaurants and coffee shops such as Pizza Molina, Avatar's Punjabi Burritos, Peet's Coffee or Equator Coffees & Teas. Only a mile away, The Mill Valley Market, family owned and operated for almost 90 years, serves fresh fruits, meat and seafood as well as an extensive yet eclectic wine selection. You can also order online one of their famous sandwiches or a whole catering service for a special occasion.
Getting around
You can choose a variety of ways to commute to the city by driving, walking or biking. Mill Valley walking maps are available in a variety of locations such as the Marin County Visitors Bureau, City Hall and the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce.
