This is a fine basic tourist hotel. It is very clean an located in a beautiful farm setting on the fjord about 10 min outside of Akureyri, but it is not a charming guest house as other reviews make it seem. It is a former convalescent hospital, and retains an institutional feel, in spite of some nice touches scattered about. When we drove up, a large tour bus was unloading people. There is a concrete square filled with hot water that was nice for a soak. The breakfast was typical cold cuts, fruit, and cereal, but there are delicious brownies at the end. Dinner food was pretty tasty, but it was served buffet style, and some of the dishes were sitting empty or nearly empty by the time we ate at 8 p.m. All in all, I’d say the stay was fine for a stopover, but I’d look for something else if I came through Akureyri again. It was one of the least expensive places we stayed, so that is a big plus for folks saving money.
