I thought this hotel was very charming. As a biblophile myself I loved the dining room decorated with books from floor to ceiling and also the rooms upstairs. The foyer was even nice, this hotel has real character and my room was great with it's own small suntrap courtyard.
I thought the included breakfast was very good with many options and I did have a meal here on one night with live music, which I enjoyed, but I thought the food on the night let the hotel down somewhat I had the mushroom pie starter and the piglet belly with orange sauce for a main and while it was nice enough, I expected something special from the tempting sounding menu and overall quality of the hotel.
That is not to say I wouldn't dine there again, as I would try out other items and if I was to visit Obidos again I will book this hotel. One of the main problems with this hotel is it is in such a lovely town, because if it was in a town with nothing to see it would be a pleasure to stay in the hotel itself for the day, especially if you were writing a book.
