Traditional Rural House in the Alentejo
Ecological root house, built in mud, with natural characteristics that preserve it cool in summer and comfortable in winter. The construction of the house is in tune with the local resources - the pressed earth - a construction typically Alentejo.
The house uses natural resources to produce energy through solar panels.
Keeping antique furniture is the story of an Alentejo family
The ground floor house has 2 bedrooms (1 bedroom with 2 double beds and another with a double bed) with a typical Alentejo decoration and a bathroom, it is carefully restored original furniture. In the living room, above the wood-fired oven of the family, some of the old utensils of the grandfathers Cortes (which besides agriculture, were dedicated to beekeeping and local commerce), it is worth to see where the bread was kneaded , where they bathed, the old slums, the bottles, the utensils of the rural house, pieces with history, watched closely.
The living room features sofa bed, comfortable and swivel chairs and fireplace for the cold days in the lower Alentejo. The new kitchen is fully equipped and has all the necessary appliances for a long vacation (dishwasher, clothes, refrigerator, oven, ceramic hob, toaster, wand, mincer).
Outside, you can enjoy rest and make your barbecue, the land of 1000 m2 has a rural surrounding overlooking the countryside and the eucalyptus. Breath fresh air and the stars at night fill the skies of the Alentejo with an unforgettable beauty.
The house is located in the vicinity of the honey shop. The certified products are marketed there, from honey, pollen, royal jelly, candles among other regional items.
In addition to the visit to Casa do Mel, we suggest bicycle tours, walking tours in the locality and other places of high ecological and scenic value, on the Vincentian coast. The house is 20 minutes from the beach areas of the Costa Vicentina.
