We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. We visited during Christmas time and it was well decorated. The room and hotel was clean. Daily cleaning/housekeeping service.
Restaurant bit over priced
Really like the hotel. Bar was well stocked and the restaurant food was really good. Good variety and great quality.
Breakfast choice was also really good, catering for most tastes.
Room was clean and comfortable. A bit of street noise but not too bad.
Only minor draw back was how cold the reception gets - This is where the bar seating is. When people are constantly in and out, it does get cold.
The hotel is lovely and the staff are very friendly and professional. The Spa facilities are quite limited and very expensive. The breakfast choices are very good and the food in the restaurant is very nice. It's a good 30 minute walk to the centre of the city.
My friend and I had a great time at Hotel Reykjavik Grand. The hotel looks really nice, has great facilities. Richard on the front desk was really nice and very helpful - he even gave us a heads up on whether the Northern Lights would likely appear during our stay which was really great.
We were able to book transport to the airport which is great considering Iceland doesn't use Uber, there's also tour packages etc. you can get from the reception desk too which is very convenient.
The only minor thing that we didn't like about the hotel was the shower - because there isn't a shower screen (just the curtain) the water would sometimes leak out on to the floor but otherwise no complaints.
The jet hot tub was not working and we were offered dinner instead, which was nice. But still, my room rate included the hot tub. I hope it’s fixed in room 945.
I wrote an earlier review, which I retract. I misunderstood the reception agent. My apologies.
The check in process was quick and easy. The gentleman who helped us was one of the friendliest we met on our trip. The room was clean and stylish. We took a nap and woke up too late to get food anywhere else, but they have quick cooler food in the lobby so we didn't starve. The breakfast was very good by hotel breakfast buffet standards. Close enough to everything else in the city that you can walk or take a scooter anywhere you want to visit, and the parking is right off the main road so navigating to and from is simple. Would be happy to stay here again anytime in the future. Should note if you have an atrium room it can be noisy unless you close the vent windows.

Very rude and condescending attendance who did not want to help and kept putting us off we asked for early check in there was no activity in the front desk area but she kept saying check back later when we asked another attendant that we wanted to talk to a manager then we got our room right away

We did not get the walk-in shower we requested twice due to a handicap. Tub was very slippery, resulting in an injury. For others the hotel would be fine, but be aware there is no A/C or ventilation in the older section. Request a fan!

We had a good stay and the room was nice. We did have issues with the shower making a mess with water all over the floor. There were no wash cloths in the room either.

Check-in was chaos - everyone told rooms would be available at 3 pm but some were available as early as 11 am thru 4 pm!
Wait service in resturant for dinner was very bad. Manager comped desert but experience was negative.
Some food items such as “fresh” fruit at breakfast were no longer appropriate to serve and perhaps dangerous.
Bathroom hairdryer did not work, no conditioner in room or bath soap in shower. For an “upgraded” room it was certainly a disappointment.

Dear James,Thank you for sharing your feedback.Indeed check-in sometimes can be pretty busy, especially when our check-in starts at 3 p.m. and we have guests arriving early in the morning without booking a night before and without plans to spend the day. We are sorry that you had to experience this.We of course advise everyone that our rooms are guaranteed to be ready for you from 3 pm, however, if the room will be prepared before and we can give you keys earlier - we will of course try to do that - let u know if you think it is a wrong choice :)Our rooms have basic amenities of body lotion, shower gel and hair conditioner - some of the items are in bigger dispensers on the wall while some are in smaller packages by the sink. I'm sorry if some items were missing - this definitely will be noted to our Housekeeping, same as the situation with fruits in the breakfast area. I know that all fruits are cut just before they are put outside, and since our breakfast is open for 3h30m - we will maybe need to check with our grocery supplier to make sure all is in order.I just hope you will be able to visit us again!

the Shower in bathroom did not work. It took a long time to connect to front desk to have someone come up to check. It was broken. So they moved us to another room a bit smaller. We had to haul all our luggage AGAIN, and go down then across the sitting area to the other side of the building. So not very relaxing.

This should be inspected before you arrive at the original room and I'm genuinely sorry that this was not done properly and that you were allowed to enter a room with something not fully functioning in it.I'm happy however that our FD Team was able to find you a different room right away and I do believe that moving bags with the use of our elevators if needed was a quick mission before hitting the full-relax button and enjoying the rest of your stay with us :)Hope to see you back with us someday!
Overall hotel was great and most of the staff was helpful and friendly. On the negative site - large tourist groups caused the rooms extremely crowded at breakfast but even more at dinner time. Seemed to be a shortage of waiters.

Hotel is in mediocre condition. Front desk staff were professional but not friendly. Same with bar/restaurant staff. Room was worn looking with cracks in ceiling and wall. The mini fridge was not functioning. No air conditioning because it’s Iceland, but on August days with pleasant temps outdoors it is hot and airless indoors. Hotel staff were well-prepared with fans to circulate the air. Unfortunately with an interior-facing room and a window opening 2 inches into the atrium, it was very uncomfortable. Free parking was the best amenity.
