what a delightful place
we stayed here for a week and chose it based on the amazing view picture on the website, and it was all just as promised. the room was very spacious and clean with plenty of storage and clean and airy, infact the whole hotel was spotless and marble everywhere. i have to say in all my years of travelling it was the best hotel i have ever stayed in! we hoped to enjoy a meal in the hotel the first night but unfortunately it was closed for refurbishment which was a shame. it was ideally suited to us as we had taken the car on a tour of europe and had ample parking and a small walk to the train station (buy tickets in the little shop across the road) though don't expect a lot from the trains they are dirty hot and full, basically it sums up a lot of the country

Nice Roman Hotel in the Suburbs
Hotel is GREAT, nice rooms and clean, still working on Restaurant service but nice, not too many ammenities, Very nice entrance and gardens. Big travertine bathroom but still the shower was small, clean but small. To get to the city you have to walk around 800 mts downslope to Pantanella train station, with NO sidewalks, no problem on the go, but for the return, those 800 mts upslope normally at night, are a real VIACRUSIS after walking all day in Rome, I had a car and left it at the train station parking lot (mostly full) . Arriving at Rome, I recommend to take "hop in-hop off" bus because METRO stations sometimes are far from main atractions. BE PREPARE TO WALK ANYWAY, ROME IS ALWAYS INVITATIONAL TO DO IT. Do not think in WI-FI at the Hotel, in rooms is useless and at the lobby, very slow.

Remarkable staff
Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. My girlfriend and I were looking to buy a GPS and a nice lady from the staff joined us and took us to a store in the city where we were able to find one. Another nice lady took about one hour, if it wasn't more, of her time calling various air company offices and translating. The hotel is very beautiful, the rooms are pretty and the view is amazing. We were able to see Rome at far and during night it was really stunning.

First class all the way.
Just arrived home after staying in this wonderful hotel. First impressions where excellent and they never changed throughout our stay. Marble everywhere made for a very clean look. Staff very friendly and attentive always willing to help and advise when necessary. Rooms large and comfortable linen and towels changed daily. Breakfast was continental of a very good standard. Ate at the hotel every night plenty of choice and always of a good standard. Service first class. Location a little out if the way but there is a train station about 15 mins away which takes you to Rome centre. Would we stay here again Definitely. Thanks to all who made this a very relaxed break.

Luxury stay at a very reasonable price!!
What can I say, the hotel itself was perfect. The grounds are well kept and makes an excellent venue for weddings, parties and conferences alike. The Domus Caesari Hotel is piece of pure luxury in the hills of Marino and definitely not to be missed. The room we had was spotless, the pictures do not do justice to how nice the Hotel is!! The staff are very friendly and late check out is an option. The free shuttle service to Pantanella station is also useful unless, like us, you enjoyed the walk down the hill. air conditioning was cool and views from the terrace to Rome was a wonderful thing. The food - room service and the hotel restaurant is the same menu, but it's simply gorgeous. Meat menu for 20EUR, or Seafood menu for 25EUR, believe me, it was cheap for what you get and the quality is extremely high. Lots of choice, you will not be disappointed. A few things to take into account when booking this hotel: - Cab fares from the airport (a short distance) is upwards of 30EUR - avoid this. - The walk to Pantanella station is pretty, but not all pavement and on a gentle hill - about 15 minutes walk. - The train service is not reliable. Twice we sat over 1 hour waiting. Tickets bought from the bar across the road.

Great hotel with some minor faults
Good hotel, very large rooms, with beautiful decor. Convenient by car to Castel Gandolfo and Lake Albano. TV only available on Fox - no ordinary or English language TV. No face washers - have to wash your face etc with a hand towel.

Easy access to must-see sights
The hotel was very well situated for us, being outside of Rome. The train station was a 15-minute walk, perfect, as we did not want to drive in the city. The breakfast was excellent, and the hotel was beautifully decorated and well-looked after. We had a marvelous view of Rome from our balcony. Our favorite of all the places we stayed at during our three-week vacation.

we found the hotel was too far out - nothing open within walking distance, theer were no pavements and walking was dangerous at times, the staff were friendly [most of them] the hotel was clean - there was no bar and the staff spoke little english - our drink and food orders were always incorrect - we found the same all over Rome

Not a 4.4 on my scale
Hotel is not near Rome although we booked a trip to Rome through Expedia. It is 50 mins and cost us $90 euros by taxi. The shuttle is only a available in the morning after 8:30-1200 and if the hotel is booked for receptions they do not provide food to their guests.

Domus Caesari, Rome
We stayed at this hotel prior to flying out of Rome Ciampino early the next morning. The rooms provided were in the attic with only light and air coming from a small attic window. There was no lift to the floor that our rooms were on. The rooms were also not sound proofed and the noise at night and early morning was not pleasant. The food in the restaurant was very good but we were unable to dine inside, only in a covered patio area. It did become quite cold. The hotel seemed to be understaffed and the breakfast was average.

Wonderful
This is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Rome, very convenient. The train station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel, parking is free, the rooms are gorgeous, breakfast was included in a wonderful dining area. It's close to Marino, Castel Gandolfo and Nemi. Which we enjoyed as a mini get away from Rome. The train ride is about 30 minutes into Rome main Termini.

Shame about the location
It really is a shame about the location for this hotel. it was a ghost town but the buillding itself is extremely impressive. The building is on a hill which has beautiful views of Rome and the lights twinkling at night. Everything within the hotel was immaculate with marble floors and lots of room. The only downside to this hotel is that if you are using public transport you need to walk up a busy road without any lights or paths. So if you are a daredevil or if you have a car this is a very good place to stay. if you are relying on public transport (train to rome in 20 mins so not bad at all) then the Hill of Death (as my husband and I called it at nightime) might be an issue.

Disappointed
Sorry to say that we were not impressed at all. The hotel standard is slipping, what was once a nice hotel, is slowly going down hill. We stayed 3 nights, and the two fountains on the property were observed operating only on the 3rd evening, off the remainder of our stay. There is a dangerous checkered patio block walkway with several blocks that tittered on roots. We reserved a room for 4 with two double beds, and received one double with two cots that filled the room. The AC is controlled on a timer, it goes on at 5:30 am and is off by 8:30 am, and in the evening it goes off at 11:30. The breakfast croissant and toast comes prepackaged in plastic. At check in I had to bring the children to the front desk for a visual inspection to ensure the passports matched, “I want to see their faces” I was told. There is a train that will take you into Rome, but the graffiti ridden stand selling tickets was chained up closed. It’s a $50 euro fine for boarding without a ticket, and no the conductor will not sell you a ticket.

Nice area to get away from Rome atmosphere
Hotel was in the country side....Deborah at the front desk was extremely helpful and answered any and all questions from where to catch the train to which beaches...accross the street was a great restaurant we ate at (we travelled with some family members btw ) so the five of us would cross over and eat the great food and drink the Red wine....very nice (thx Nikolai)...noted that the train station was a 12 minute walk from Hotel, and then 20 mins on the train to Rome Terminal...but no issues as all as we hit Rome tourist sites, Anzio, castel Gandolfo is 2 stops away... even took a train to Florence so in essence..transpo went super....for convenience, and fact we did not know the train stations, we had called the hotel for a shuttle arrangement from airport to hotel and vice versa ....was $90 Euro for the 5 of us ...rooms were very clean and well sized..

Far from Rome.
If you're going to visit Rome, I'd recommend another place. Not to say that there was anything really wrong with it, but there's a couple of things that irked me. First, there was a no eating in the hotel room policy, which was outrageous. Then when asking for a travel adapter, they didnt have one of those. Asked for an iron and they said it was too much of a risk to let their guest iron (what the...?) On top of that, checkout was at 10:30am, which in my opinion is a little early. Then on top of that it's farther from the main city than I thought. You have to take the regional train to Pantanella from Roma Termini. Roma Termini is the main terminal to get around the entire city. You can catch the metros from there to get around the city From Pantanella station to the hotel is about 20 minutes away, but as I traveled with moderate luggage, it was grueling lugging it uphill I wouldnt recommend it at all. The pictures look nice and all but it's not worth it.

The room was a good price, nice and clean. The hotel was in the suburbs of Rome, a good 30-40 minutes from downtown, driving. The reception staff was not very friendly. The breakfast was adequate. They put us in a handicapped room, which was puzzling, because the hotel did not seem very full.

very nice facility, good service, nice-large rooms- comfortable showers-large balcony overlooking the Rome skyline- a bit hard to find and not practical without the use of a car! Easy commute to Rome by train
You can get a train schedule to Rome from the front desk. You can walk to the platform or drive to the parking lot across the street from the train platform. It took us 10 minutes to walk there from the hotel. The restaurant starts serving dinner at 7:45 p.m. There are a few restaurants near by that serve dinner earlier.

Roma stay
This hotel is excellent in terms of standards and also value. Rooms are of a high standard and very clean. It is some distance out of Roma however it is a 15 minute walk to the train station and an easy train ride into central Roma. It would be good if the WiFi extended into the rooms and not just the hotel lobby. The only reason you wouldnt stay here is if you wanted to be within walking distance of central Roma.

Very nice Hotel, would use again.
The hotel looks great and we were not disappointed when we went to our room. It wasn't busy when we were their (end of October) but a steady stream of other guests mainly American. Breakfast was a good selection of Continental items including meat and cheese, yogurt, bread, cereal and cake etc. If you are expecting full English you will be disappointed. Only real problem we had was the rather cold water in the mornings, it did eventually warm up but you had to run it for quite a while.

Very attractive complex, good value for money
Decor and service in the hotel were superb. The only issue we had was that of the long wait to get hot water to the shower, because of the distance the water has to travel from source to delivery. A recirculating system would solve this problem

Happy to go back
Just returned (Sept 09) from a week at the hotel. Really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely terrace with fountains(lit at night)and some great views over Rome. Rooms were comfortable and clean, there's a safety deposit box provided (ask for key at reception) for which the hotel make no extra charge. We found it easy to travel into Rome every day by train, approx 20 mins journey. I agree with previous comments, the breakfast could be better (ham, cheese, yoghurt etc. but lacking fruit or hot toast)gets a bit boring after a couple of days but other than that we had no complaints and consider the hotel good value for money.

Excellent hotel- right place for visiting Rome by train
The Domus Caesari is a lovely hotel in a small village within easy travelling distance of Rome by train.Recently built to a very high standard with lots of marble and crystal chandeliers. The rooms are a good size, we had a beautiful marble bathroom and a super view of Rome by night. Breakfast was adequate consisting of Rolls, cheese, ham, yoghurts, fruit teas, coffee, croissants, jams, cake and cornflakes. The reception staff spoke English well and were very helpful. They can arrange car transfers from/to the airport or train station which is a good walk from the hotel. Surroundings were lovely with a large terrace and fountains.

We stayed in six hotels in Italy. This was by far our best experience. The hotel was lovely. We had dinner the first night, a wonderful introduction to italian cuisine. Breakfasts were excellent. this was the worst hotel i have ever been to. its very grand, but thats it. the staff are not helpful at all, and the hotel is in the middle of nowhere.the walk to the train station is very hard especially with kids because the roads have no footpaths and theres always a fear of getting run over. furthermore, as you r walking up the road u will find dogs suddenly barking at u. was an awful experience. the breakfast consisted of a few slices of cake and cornflakes. the hotel doesnt even exchange money. even worse we found that the staff were very poor with directions. if they tell u something is 5 mins away they actually mean 20 mins. no one cleaned our room, we stayed for 5 days and only once was our room cleaned. i wont ever be going there again , and would not recommend it. too far from city centre too.

Set approximately 1km downhill from Marino, the hotel and grounds were attractive with lovely views of Rome in the distance. Although the decor was grand, we felt that the hotel lacked the charm of the nearby town of Marino with its lovely bars and restaurants. We also found that some members of staff were less helpful than others. However the hotel was a peaceful retreat after the hustle and bustle of a day's sightseeing in Rome!

Great hotel, great value
We used this as a comfortable and affordable base for family travel into Rome. We had a car, so getting there was no problem and they have plenty of free parking. Our quad rooms (stayed there at the beginning and end of our trip) were large, clean and had a great view of Rome from the balcony. The area was quiet so we slept wonderfully, away from the noise of the city. We walked to and from the train station each day which was not a huge hassle but I wouldn't have wanted to do the walk with luggage. Train tickets are sold in the bar across from the station (1.2 euro) and you have to validate them by writing the date, time and stop name (Pantanella) on the tickets before boarding. Had nice dinners at the pizzeria near the train station and at a restaurant overlooking the lake in Castel Gandolfo - only 4 miles away and a gorgeous view of the lake and the Pope's summer residence. Wireless internet in the lobby was nice. Breakfasts were pretty typical with what we experienced elsewhere. We would definitely stay here again.
