Dolphin Cottage - a charming Grade II listed barn conversion in Charlestown

Surrounded by beautiful Cornish countryside, Dolphin Cottage is only a minutes walk away from the main harbour of Charlestown. It is approached by a private driveway which leads to Polmear Farm and where allocated parking is available, including EV charger. The cottage itself is at the end of what was the original cattle barn when it was a working farm and can sleep up to six people. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a spacious hallway leading to the main bathroom and two bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room. At the far end of the barn is the open plan living/dining and well equipped kitchen area, exposing beautiful beamed ceilings. From here, guests can open doors onto what can only be described as the most stunning and spacious conservatory. A built in shrubbery area aligns the inside conservatory wall housing Mediterranean type plants and lighting giving a warm, Spanish feel. The main dining table and a cosy sofa are also within this room and is perfect for enjoying the surrounding views of lush lawns and breath taking views. Outside the front of Dolphin Cottage is a lawn area and private garden seating with dining furniture, parasol and BBQ - perfect for alfresco dining on a Summer's evening.

I highly recommended this beautiful cottage. Its a unique old building which has been sympathetically modernised to a high standard. There is plenty of parking which is a rarity in Charlestown and it is set in beautiful, well maintained gardens. This hidden gem in the heart of Charlestown is only a stones throw from the historic harbour, beach, cliff walks and numerous restaurants, bars and cafes. Contact with the host was excellent.

Our stay in Dolphin cottage was blessed with wonderful weather so we were able to take advantage of the lovely outside gardens and great location of the cottage. It is surrounded by grassy areas , some communal but Dolphin had significant private gardens as well. The cottage location was a 2 minute stroll from the centre of Charlestown and all its lovely shops, restaurants and bars. Inside the cottage is well presented and spacious. Kitchen area is in a wonderful rotunda style room and though small has everything you need. Only a small sitting area but then a huge conservatory with a dining table and seats was a great asset. It was too hot in the daytime but evenings were lovely in there. Bedrooms were snug and nicely furnished with very comfy beds. The en-suite in the double room was not ideal. Very hot and musty smell and very tight for space. The main bathroom was better but again was always very hot and steamy with an inadequate extractor. Otherwise we were delighted with this property and would recommend
