I have purchased 2 hotel stays in Poland and was convinced that the money was collected by the hotels - as this is what I read in the confirmation email! However, upon check out from the hotel, I was informed that I need to pay because the hotel does not collect any money from customers??? This is totally unprofessional and it happened to me the first time ever!!!
I planned my travel very carefully in terms how much cash I need to take with me, and this "incident" negatively impacted on my plans. One of the worst things is that the hotel deducted £7 more, and this excluded the so called "tourist tax" then I initially "paid" via Expedia site. This might be the result of the changes in exchange rate, however charging me £7 extra is absolutely unacceptable!!! I also consider this situation being the result of Expedia's bad service and the lack of clear communication!
The reception staff were generally unhelpful and unfriendly! There was no smiles, no "good mornings" but only total ignorance. I thought that this hotel will take something from its posher version next door - "Grand Nosalowy Dwor" hotel but this was a wishful thinking.
