Set around a boating lake, this park is a great place for biking, walking, picnicking and watching concerts at the Sala Polivalentă arena.

Spend a day enjoying family-friendly activities at Tineretului Park (Parcul Tineretului). In addition to its sprawling green lawns, the park has children’s playgrounds, a fairground, a picturesque lake and a music and sporting event arena. Find bars, open-air cafés, restaurants and designated barbecuing areas. Opened in 1965, today Tineretului Park is one of Bucharest’s most-loved recreational parks.

As you enter the park from the main northern entrance, notice a series of orderly and well-kept lawns. These roll gently down toward the calm water of Lake Tineretului. Rent a rowboat to navigate the lake. Paths intersect the lawns and are ideal to explore on foot or by bike. Bike rental is available at the park’s entrance during the summer.

Go to the skate park to watch in-line skaters and skateboarders perform tricks on the halfpipe and jumps. Alternatively, find a quiet spot to relax amid the park’s peaceful and natural surroundings. Bring a picnic to enjoy near the lake or use the public barbecue grills. Within the park are restaurants and snack bars where you can sample mici, a sausage made using ground meats.

In the south side of the park is an amusement park called Orăşelul Copiilor. It has a go-kart track, bumper cars, Ferris wheel, roller coasters and lazy river, among other attractions. Take small children to the nearby play area, complete with climbing frames, merry-go-round, slides and swings.

For music and sports, visit Sala Polivalentă. Watch national and international basketball, handball and tennis matches. Previous concert performers include English rock band Deep Purple and the world-famous DJ Armin Van Buuren.

While here, visit the historic Bellu Cemetery, which stretches along the park’s eastern border. Spot the tombs of famous Romanian figures, some elaborate and others humble.

The park is about a 15-minute drive from Bucharest’s Lipscani neighborhood. Get here easily via trams and the metro. Tineretului and Constantin Brâncoveanu metro stations provide direct access to the park’s north and south entrances, respectively.

Tineretului Park is open daily. Pay fees for the attractions at Orăşelul Copiilor.
