During whale season (December through April), Maui’s south coast becomes a sanctuary for humpback mothers, calves, and escort males. Whales are often spotted quickly, providing ample time to watch surface activity such as breaches, tail slaps, and nursing behaviour. Our small-group format creates a personal, adventure-style experience you won’t find on large boats.

A highlight of the tour is the onboard hydrophone, allowing guests to listen in real time to the hauntingly beautiful songs of humpback whales beneath the surface. However, humpbacks are naturally curious, and close encounters of 100 yards or less sometimes occur on their terms. To ensure whale safety and responsible operations, tour times may occasionally be slightly extended, with additional buffer time built into the schedule.
