Overview

This gastronomic and cultural experience combines history, architecture, live music and local cuisine in a unique tour of the heart of Madrid.

We will discover three different areas, passing hidden corners, centuries-old taverns and some of the most monumental areas of the city.

During the tour you will enjoy 7 gastronomic tastings and 3 selected alcoholic drinks, including traditional tapas, Iberian ham, vermouth and Spanish wines. In addition to tasting the food, you will learn about the stories and traditions behind each dish and the Spanish social culture.

As a Madrid-born actor, musician and local guide, my goal is to bring the city to life through stories, humour and small musical moments with live Spanish guitar. There will also be a fun introduction to chotis, the traditional dance of Madrid.

The idea is not simply to teach Madrid, but to make you feel part of it for a few hours.

Activity itinerary

Chueca Barrio

  • 20m
  • Admission ticket included
We will begin our experience in the heart of Chueca, one of the most vibrant and authentic areas of Madrid, entering a century-old tavern founded in 1917 and considered by many Madridians as “the Sistine Chapel of Madrid bars”. This historic place preserves intact its chaste essence: decorated ceilings, antique wood, bohemian atmosphere and an atmosphere that seems stopped in time. Here we will discover the tradition of Madrid vermouth tasting one of the most renowned in the city, made by a small artisan family factory. Over the years, this iconic tavern has hosted artists, musicians and international personalities, including members of The Rolling Stones. Between stories, popular culture and local atmosphere, travellers will experience an authentic first immersion in the most human, historic and special Madrid.

Casa de las Siete Chimeneas

Our next stop will take us to one of the most mysterious and historical corners of 16th century Madrid: the surroundings of the legendary Casa de las Siete Chimneys, scene of some of the most disturbing stories and legends of the city. In this atmosphere full of history and character we will discover an authentic local tavern where Madridians continue to gather to enjoy some of the most traditional and beloved tapas in the capital. Far from the most touristic routes, here we will taste castizo flavours, popular recipes and dishes that have been part of everyday life in Madrid for generations. Between anecdotes, historical architecture and local cuisine, this stop offers a perfect combination of culture, mystery and the most authentic essence of Madrid.

Plaza de Cibeles

At this stop we will discover the architectural and monumental heart of Madrid, a spectacular setting where the classic elegance and historical grandeur of the city reach their maximum expression. From the emblematic Plaza de Cibeles we will look at some of the most impressive buildings in the capital: the majestic Palacio de Cibeles, the historic Banco de España, the refined Palacio de Linares and the views towards the legendary Gran Vía and the Círculo de Bellas Artes, one of the great cultural symbols of Madrid. This enclave represents the transformation of Madrid into a great European capital at the beginning of the 20th century. Among monumental facades, iconic sculptures and avenues full of history, travellers can understand why this area is considered one of the most beautiful and elegant cityscapes in Spain. A perfect place to admire the most sophisticated, artistic and cinematic essence of Madrid while discovering stories, anecdotes and many secrets

Congreso de los Diputados

  • 10m
  • Admission ticket included
In front of the historic Congress of Deputies we will enter one of the most emblematic and sophisticated areas of Madrid, where politics, literature, aristocracy and history have been intertwined for centuries. Surrounded by some of the city’s great symbols – such as Neptune Square, the legendary Palace Hotel, the elegant Hotel Ritz and the entrance to the historic Barrio de las Letras – we will discover the stories, intrigues and transformations that shaped modern Madrid and the political and cultural life of Spain. Between monumental buildings, historic cafes and avenues full of memory, this stop offers a unique look at the most intellectual, elegant and cinematic side of the Spanish capital.

Calle de las Huertas

  • 15m
  • Admission ticket included
In the heart of the historic Barrio de las Letras we will stop at one of those breezy taverns that preserve the essence of the most authentic and traditional Madrid. Here we will discover Madrid’s lifelong popular cuisine: granny recipes, intense flavours and classic dishes prepared with the love and simplicity that have defined local cuisine for generations. A warm, familiar and characterful atmosphere where you still breathe the spirit of the old taverns frequented by writers, artists and area neighbors. Between conversation, wine and traditional tapas, travellers will be able to experience the more human, welcoming and tasty side of Madrid, far from conventional tourist experiences.

Literary Quarter (Barrio de Las Letras)

  • 20m
We will finish our experience in the emblematic Barrio de las Letras, birthplace of some of the most important writers and artists in the history of Spain, a place where every street retains the literary and bohemian soul of old Madrid. In an authentic Andalusian tavern decorated with traditional tiles, ancient wood and Mediterranean essence, we will enter one of the great gastronomic treasures of the country: the Iberian ham. We will discover its origins, the differences between its varieties and the artisan process that makes it one of the most valued products of Spanish gastronomy. While tasting fine slices of Iberian ham accompanied by Spanish wine in an intimate and characterful atmosphere, travellers can experience one last immersion in the culture, tradition and gastronomic pleasure that define Spanish social life.

Real Jardin Botanico

  • 20m
  • Admission ticket included
Our experience will end in one of the most elegant and cultural corners of Madrid: the surroundings of the historic Paseo del Prado and the Royal Botanical Gardens, a World Heritage-listed environment that represents centuries of art, history and Madrid life. Surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere of the gardens, the large illustrated avenues and some of the most important cultural spaces in Spain, we will close the experience with an intimate and authentically Madrid moment: a small introduction to traditional chotis, live music with Spanish guitar and the latest stories and anecdotes about the city and its popular culture. A warm, artistic and personality-filled finale to farewell Madrid as locals do: between music, conversation and emotion.
