Renowned as one of the world’s top classic hiking routes, the Tiger Leaping Gorge High Trail is a must-visit destination for trekking enthusiasts. Despite its global reputation, the hike is surprisingly accessible—covering just over 20 km with elevations below 2,700 metres, making it ideal for beginners.

The scenery is nothing short of spectacular. Hike alongside the majestic Haba Snow Mountain, gaze across to the dramatic peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and follow the roaring Jinsha River deep below. Along the way, you’ll pass through forests, cliffs, ancient trails, and waterfalls, offering constantly changing views.

Tiger Leaping Gorge gained international fame through the explorations of Joseph Rock and remains a favourite among hikers from around the world. Today, it continues to be recognised as one of the highlights of southwest China, frequently featured in Western travel guides and geography publications.
