Your first stop is a store specialising in bakkwa, jerky-like meat, slow grilled over charcoal with the same secret recipe handed down from generations ago. Savour the honey sweet, appetising bakkwa or get a pack as a take-away souvenir. Stroll around a little more past the various small stalls that sell a plethora of tropical fruit, including the king of fruits, Durian, as well as fresh seafood and daily goods.

Chinatown Complex

Continue onwards to a hawker centre and explore the myriad of food stalls before tasting either “carrot cake” or Char Keow Teow. Warm up your appetite with this popular side dish that uses the simplest ingredients. Your main course of the day is at the first street-level Michelin stall.

Temple Street
