Next, head to the Rabati Fortress, a medieval fortress originally built in the 9th century under the name Lomisa, in the city of Akhaltsikhe. Covering an area of 7 hectares, the fortress is divided into two sections: the Upper (historical) and the Lower (modern).

Continue to the cave monastery of Vardzia, a complex dating back to the 12th–13th centuries. Learn about its strategic importance and how it was partially restored after an earthquake in 1283.
