With an audio guide, available in several languages, you can enjoy a tour of two cathedrals dedicated to the Virgin Mary that Plasencia has today: the New Cathedral and the Old Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of St. Mary. They form the most important architectural and artistic ensemble in the city. Both are incomplete.

The first has a chancel and a transept, but lacks the naves of the body and the gable or façade at the foot of the church. The second lacks a chancel and transept, which were demolished to build the New Cathedral. Externally, a not very convincing sculptural break joins the two cathedrals.

The complex boasts a diversity of spaces, facades, figures, etc., which delights visitors. The New Cathedral is more spacious, luxurious and modern than the Old Cathedral, which is more austere and primitive; it is also more intimate and mysterious.
