Welcome to the World Heritage Site of Alcalá Tour!
This tour offers the perfect introduction to understanding a city with over 2,000 years of history. We will discover the ins and outs of the world's first university city, designed by Cardinal Cisneros, the coexistence of the “3 Cultures” in Alcalá, and, of course, the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, the genius behind Don Quixote.
We'll start at Plaza de las Bernardas, a peaceful spot from which we can gradually explore the Historic Quarter, moving from the least important to the most important. We'll save the highlight, the University, for last… like the climax of a great novel! All spiced up with fun facts, entertaining explanations, and a game at the end.
What will we visit?
We will visit the most iconic spots and, depending on the chosen time slot, enjoy access to some landmarks:
· Plaza de las Bernardas (Starting point)
· Archbishop's Palace
· Casa de la Entrevista (House of the Interview)
· Catedral Magistral de los Santos Niños (Cathedral)
· Calle Mayor
· Museo Casa Natal de Cervantes (Cervantes' Birthplace Museum)
· Antic Hospital de Antezana
· Plaza de Cervantes (Cervantes Square)
· Corral de Comedias (theatre)
· Capilla del Oidor (where Cervantes' baptismal certificate is kept)
· Old University of Alcalá
Important Information
To ensure you have a comprehensive experience, we have tailored the tours for groups of 20 people maximum, depending on the opening hours of the monuments:
· 10:00 a.m. tour – Includes admission to the Museo Casa Natal de Cervantes.
· 12:00 p.m. tour – Includes access to the Oidor Chapel.
· 4:00 pm tour – Includes access to the Oidor Chapel.
· 6:00 PM Tour – Outdoor Tour. Due to the closing times of the monuments, we will enjoy the entire heritage from the main squares and streets.
