Welcome to the Alcalá World Heritage Tour! (English Tour, please contact me)
My name is David Alba, a Certified Guide and Graduate in Tourism from the University of Alcalá de Henares (UAH). This tour is the perfect introduction to a city with a history spanning over two millennia. You can learn the ins and outs of what was and is the first University City in the World thanks to Cardinal Cisneros, what was the Alcalá of the 3 Cultures and the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, the author of Don Quixote de la Mancha.
We'll start at Plaza de las Bernardas, a less crowded spot in the historic quarter, and then we'll see all the main tourist attractions, from least to most important, until we reach the University, which is the highlight of the tour. We'll wrap everything up at the end like a good novel, full of fun facts and explanations ;)
We'll visit the outside (we'll go into the Capilla del Oidor, except for the 6:00 pm group):
· Plaza de las Bernardas
· Archbishop's Palace
· Interview House
· Cathedral of the Holy Children
· Calle Mayor
· Cervantes Birthplace Museum
· Old Hospital of Antezana
· Cervantes Square
· Corral de Comedias
· Capilla del Oidor (Where Cervantes' Baptism Certificate is kept)
· The Old University of Alcalá
And more! (With a game included during the Tour, we'll see what happens at the end)
So, I'm waiting for you to discover Alcalá together. I promise you'll fall in love ;)
