Overview

  • Discover Ålesund on foot and combine nature, history and architecture on this 3-hour tour with a local guide.

    The tour begins in the city centre and follows the trails of Mount Aksla, where you’ll discover natural surroundings and remnants of World War II. Reach the Fjellstua viewpoint, around 150 metres above sea level, and enjoy spectacular views over the city, its islands, the sea and the Sunnmøre Alps.

    Then descend the 418 steps back to the city centre, where you’ll learn about the great fire of 1904 and the reconstruction of Ålesund in Art Nouveau style, including its distinctive Dragon Style.

    An experience combining scenery, history and architecture to discover Ålesund beyond its best-known sights.

    Important: A moderate level of physical fitness is required. The tour includes trails, several hours of walking and 418 steps. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
