Discover the ancient and mysterious Necropolis of Anghelu Ruju dating back to the Neolithic and Copper Age in the territory of Alghero, north-west Sardinia.
Explore the fascinating tomb architecture, from the simplest to the monumental, in one of the largest prehistoric cemeteries on the island. Known as domus de janas or fairy houses, these hypogea offer an immersion into the millennial history of Sardinia and were the last resting place of the Sardinian people. Admire magical-ritual symbols such as bull's heads and enigmatic symbols of propitiatory rites, typical elements of religiosity of this period in the Mediterranean area. Inside these small cells with details inspired by the houses of the living such as steps, pillars, cornices, false lintels, false doors and false windows, the deceased were buried with the objects useful and dear to them in life.
