Originally founded in the Meiji era, our theatre survived wars and became the last remaining Taishū Engeki theatre in Tokyo. Today, it continues its legacy as a beloved home of Taishū Engeki, offering visitors a rare chance to experience a living cultural tradition.
Taishū Engeki is performed by travelling actor troupes who often train from a young age and live together like family. Their passion shines through in every performance, creating shows filled with emotion, humour, and heart.
One of the theater’s greatest charms is its intimate atmosphere. During performances, performers often come down from the stage and walk among the audience, creating opportunities to interact and connect with guests.

Performance Schedule (2 shows every day):

･2nd Show: Programme starts / Doors open at 7:00 pm / Show starts at ~7:30 pm
*One of the unique aspects of Taishū Engeki is that the performance changes completely each day, so the show itself may occasionally start up to 15 minutes earlier or later.
During the waiting time:
A snack bar is available offering small snacks and refreshments (cash only). Eating and drinking during the show is perfectly fine in Taishū Engeki, so feel free to enjoy a snack during the performance. This is also a good time to take a quick toilet break.
