What you can expect

This is not sightseeing. This is a healing journey.
Most tourists visit Cape Coast Castle without understanding the full storey that led millions of Africans through its doors. On this full day private tour, Alfred Bonsu - born and raised in Cape Coast - takes you on a deeply moving journey through three of Ghana's most powerful and rarely combined heritage sites.

Stop 1 - Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River

The journey begins at one of Ghana's most sacred and least visited sites. Assin Manso was the last place enslaved Africans bathed in their homeland before the brutal march to the coast and the slave castles.

Stand at the river's edge where your ancestors stood. Feel the weight of history and the power of return. For diaspora visitors - African Americans, Caribbeans and Africans from across the world - this is often the most emotional moment of their entire Ghana journey.
The ancestral memorial here honours those who never returned - and those who have come back to remember them.

Stop 2 - Anomabo Fort

From Assin Manso we drive to the coast and the hidden gem of Anomabo Fort - one of Ghana's least visited but most historically significant colonial fortifications.
Built by the British in the 18th century, Anomabo Fort was a key holding point in the transatlantic slave trade. Unlike the famous castles, Anomabo Fort sees very few tourists -giving you an intimate, uncrowded experience of raw colonial history with panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean.

Midday - Authentic Ghanaian Lunch

Refuel at Lemon Lounge Restaurant, Cape Coast - traditional jollof rice and kelewele prepared the Cape Coast way. A warm, authentic midday break before the most powerful stop of your journey.

Stop 3 - Cape Coast Castle & The Door of No Return

Your journey ends at Ghana's most iconic and most visited UNESCO World Heritage Site - Cape Coast Castle.
Walk through the same dungeons where millions of enslaved Africans were held before crossing the Atlantic. Hear stories that go far beyond the official tour - personal, local and passed down through generations of Cape Coast families.

Stand at the Door of No Return and feel history in your bones. For many visitors this is the most powerful moment of their entire lives.
