We will pick you up at 8:00 AM at your hotel in Rome and drive for 2.15 hours to Assisi through the beautiful scenery of the Lazio and Umbria regions. The first stop will be Santa Maria degli Angeli, where you can visit the main church on your own. Inside is the Porziuncola, the little stone church where St. Francis founded the Franciscan order.
We will continue to Assisi and stop near St. Francis's Basilica, where you can visit his tomb and the two-level church, full of frescoes and relics. You will then have time to walk through the town on your own and shop for religious items and souvenirs.
Around 1:00 PM, we will leave Assisi and travel for about 30 minutes to a countryside winery, where you will have a lunch of pasta, salame, vegetables, and wine at an additional cost of EUR 25–30 per person.
After lunch and the farm visit, we will drive you back to Rome and drop you off at your hotel around 7:00 PM.
