On this one day tour you will be invited to see the Mekare-Kare tradition which can only be witnessed in Tenganan Traditional Village at certain times and will be able to experience local life and culture first hand. You will be picked up at the hotel in the morning by the tour guide or driver provided. Travel to Tenganan Village takes around 1-2 hours but depends on the location of your hotel. The tour guide can provide brief historical information and context about the Pandan War in Tenganan Village during the trip. Arriving at Tenganan Village, you will be greeted by local residents wearing traditional and friendly clothing. The tour will start with a walking exploration through the village. You can see traditional houses, traditional Balinese village entrance gates, as well as local handicrafts such as woven and ikat cloth. You will be attending the Pandan War performance which is participated in by village youths. You can see them display their skills in martial arts combined with the beauty of traditional Balinese dance and pencak silat movements. Where the media they use when fighting is a shield made of woven rattan and used to protect themselves from attacks by opponents, as well as thorny pandan which is tied so that it is shaped like a club and is used as a tool or weapon for fighting. After the show, you can interact with local residents to ask questions about daily life, as well as learn about the cultural and spiritual values contained in the Pandan War tradition. Lunch is provided at local restaurant. After the tour is finished, you will be taken back to the hotel.
