Welcome to Bamberg. We will meet at the “Centurione” statue and then walk together through the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Old Town. Our aim is to give you a comprehensive overview. All of us tour guides work exclusively on a tips basis, and we would be delighted if you would reward our efforts at the end of the tour.
During the tour, we will visit architectural highlights such as Little Venice, the Old Town Hall, the Romanesque Cathedral, the Old Residence, and much more. In addition to the beautiful scenery, we would also like to introduce you to the cultural life of Bamberg. Bamberg is much more than “just” Franconia’s beer capital, although we will of course also touch on that. Fishermen, basketball players, and students shape the city’s image, as do the excellent Franconian brewers. Of course, we will also cover Bamberg’s history. First mentioned in a document in 907 as “Castrum Babenberch,” the city began to develop under the bishops from 1007 onwards, becoming one of the most important cities in Franconia. In this context, Baroque splendour stands in contrast to the criminal persecution of “witches,” and not just figuratively.
At the end of the guided tour, we will be available to answer any additional questions and to provide tips and suggestions for things to do in and around Bamberg. We look forward to your visit!
