Get ready to explore one of Brazil’s most spectacular regions on a tour that blends adventure, surreal landscapes, and peaceful moments. The experience begins at 2:00 PM in Barreirinhas, with a ride in a 4x4 vehicle specially equipped to handle the sandy trails that wind through the Lençóis Maranhenses. The journey to the park entrance takes around 50 minutes, passing through native vegetation and scenic surroundings.
Upon arrival at the base of the dune, we leave the vehicle behind and begin a short climb via a wooden staircase built to make the ascent easier. At the top, we’re greeted with a view that impresses even the most seasoned travellers: endless white sand dunes, interspersed with crystal-clear lagoons formed during the rainy season and lasting for several months.
On this tour, we’ll visit some of the most iconic lagoons in the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. We begin with Lagoa Bonita, which offers the perfect mix of beauty, easy access, and panoramic scenery. Next is Lagoa do Clone, famous for being featured in TV and film productions and known for its harmony and calm waters. We’ll also visit Lagoa do Massarico, ideal for a refreshing and peaceful swim among the dunes, and Lagoa do Descanso, a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the natural silence.
This is a light and accessible tour, suitable for all ages, with stops for swimming, gentle dune walks, and plenty of time for photos. Each lagoon varies in depth, shape, and colour, offering a visual spectacle that changes with the light throughout the day.
The highlight of the tour comes at the end of the afternoon. We stop at a scenic spot to watch the sunset over the dunes, when the sky transforms into a living canvas painted in tones of orange, pink, and gold. It’s one of those rare moments when time seems to stand still, and the only thing that matters is being present in the beauty of the Lençóis Maranhenses.
Around 7:00 PM, we begin our return to Barreirinhas, ending the day with full hearts and renewed spirits after a visit to one of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet.
