Begin your journey with hotel pickup and head to Chen Clan Temple, once a private house for the Chen family, now a Guangdong museum. Browse its 12 indoor exhibition halls as well as the unique outdoor sculpture garden for amazing examples of sculpture, painting, and ceramic art.

Continue to the 2,000-year-old tomb of the Nanyue King Zhao Mo, which is 65 feet (20 m) underground. Pass through stone gates and descend into a royal tomb that's divided into 7 different chambers.

Recover your strength as you indulge in a local meal before heading to the ancient Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, dating back to 537 AD. Marvel at the large Bhudda statues as well as the thousand-Buddha copper pillar on the top storey of the pagoda. As your journey comes to a close, head down to Shamian Island on the north bank of Pearl River's scenic White Goose Pool.
