Our Mt. Etna tour departs from Favazza Etna Winery, a farm and the exclusive access point to the Cubania Organic Park, a private property covering approximately 99 acres and located at an altitude of 4,921 feet.
Bio Parco Cubania is an unspoiled natural area that preserves some of the volcano’s most significant features: the lava flows of 1928 and 1971, a lava slide cave, centuries-old forests, and majestic trees.
Access to the park is permitted only with specialised guides and in authorised vehicles.
The experience begins at the winery with a warm welcome, refreshments, and an introductory briefing. We then set off in Land Rover Defender 130s (maximum 7 people per vehicle) on an initial route through the winery’s vineyards, before reaching the votive chapel threatened by the 1971 lava flow, one of the iconic sites symbolising the relationship between humankind and the volcano.
The tour continues into the Cubania Organic Park, following a guided route that passes through the lava flows of 1971 and 1928, where you can observe how eruptions from different periods have shaped varying landscapes and vegetation. The route winds through forests, centuries-old trees, and protected natural areas, with stops dedicated to observing the landscape and learning about the geology of the volcano.
The experience also includes a stop near the opening of a lava slide cave, which provides insight into the internal structure of Mount Etna and the transformation of the landscape caused by eruptive activity.
At the end of the tour, participants return to the Favazza Etna Winery, where the experience concludes with a tasting of four glasses of Favazza wines, accompanied by a platter of typical Sicilian products. Alternatively, upon request, guests can choose a tasting of olive oil or plant extracts from the winery’s organic garden.
Bio Parco Discovery is a tour designed for those who want to experience Mount Etna in an authentic way, within a 40-hectare private park at their exclusive disposal, far from the usual tourist routes.
