The Medas Islands (Catalan: Illes Medes) are an archipelago located in the Mediterranean Sea consisting of about seven small islands and some islets off the northeast coast of Spain. It has an area of approximately 21.5 ha. It has a seabed, favoured by its proximity to the mouth of the Ter River, which attracts numerous researchers who study it every year making this maritime reserve one of the most important in the Mediterranean and the largest in extension of Catalonia. The island with the longest group is the Meda Grande. They are declared as ZEPIM. Some names of the islands of this archipelago are the Medallot, the Small Meda, the Ferrenelles, the large Tascó, the small Tascó and the Carall Bernardo.
