Bordeaux Bike Tour: A Journey Through Time and Elegance

Embark on a captivating two-and-a-half-hour bike tour through the heart of Bordeaux, a city that seamlessly blends history, culture, and architectural splendour. Our journey begins on the charming Rue Notre Dame, a quaint street that sets the perfect tone for the exploration that lies ahead.

As we pedal through the bustling streets, our first stop is the majestic Monument aux Girondins. Towering over the city, this iconic monument pays homage to the Girondins, a political group during the French Revolution. Admire the grandeur of the statues and intricate details that capture the essence of this pivotal period in history.

Continuing our route, we make our way to the renowned Grand Théâtre, a neoclassical masterpiece that has graced Bordeaux since the 18th century. Revel in the architectural brilliance as we pause to take in the ornate façade and learn about the cultural significance of this cultural institution.

Our next destination is the awe-inspiring Cathedral Saint-André, a Gothic masterpiece that stands as a testament to the city's rich religious heritage. Marvel at the intricate sculptures and stained glass windows that adorn this sacred site, and take a moment to absorb the peaceful atmosphere that envelopes the cathedral.

Leaving the cathedral behind, we pedal towards La Grosse Cloche, a medieval gate that once guarded the entrance to the city. Immerse yourself in the historical ambiance as we explore the cobblestone streets surrounding this iconic landmark, discovering tales of Bordeaux's past.

The Basilica Saint-Michel beckons next, a stunning example of Gothic architecture that dominates the skyline. Pause to appreciate the intricate details of the basilica, and soak in the panoramic views of Bordeaux from its elevated position.

Our journey then takes us to the Porte Cailhau, a medieval gate that serves as a portal to Bordeaux's rich maritime history. Learn about the city's trading legacy and admire the detailed carvings that adorn this historic gateway.

Crossing the elegant Pont du Pierre, a charming stone bridge that spans the Garonne River, we arrive at the Place de la Bourse. This grand square, flanked by architectural marvels, invites you to revel in the opulence of Bordeaux's 18th-century architecture. Admire the symmetry of the buildings and the stunning reflection in the adjacent Miroir d'eau, a mirror-like water feature that adds a touch of modernity to the historic surroundings.

As part of this bike tour we will make the 9km cycle to a chateau in the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux region outside Bordeaux. A tour of the vineyard and a tasting is included before making our way back to Bordeaux.
