The second destination on our tour introduces you to another facet of ancient Javanese spirituality - Prambanan Temple, a spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia. Witness the grandeur of Hindu architecture, characterised by tall, pointed structures, intricately engraved with scenes from Hindu mythology. The complex, built in the 9th century, is dedicated to the Trimurti - Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva - each housed in a separate towering shrine. Particularly impressive is the Shiva temple, the largest of the complex, which houses magnificent statues and reliefs, offering profound insights into Hindu cosmology. One of the highlights of Prambanan is the epic tale of Ramayana, masterfully engraved in the series of stone panels around the temple. As you traverse the complex, you'll follow the narrative, depicting the heroic adventure of Prince Rama and his loyal devotee Hanuman, a tale of love, courage, and loyalty that transcends time.
