What you can expect

Discover a fascinating blend of natural marvels and eerie legends on a full-day journey to the Slănic Salt Mine and Snagov Monastery, two of Romania’s most intriguing sites.

Begin your adventure with a descent into the Slănic Salt Mine, located in the scenic foothills of the Carpathians. Known for its immense underground galleries, the mine is one of the largest salt excavations in Europe. As you venture 200 metres below the surface, you’ll be awed by towering salt walls, vast open chambers, and sculptures carved directly into the mineral-rich rock. The constant, cool microclimate and exceptionally clean air make this a unique underground oasis, believed to have therapeutic qualities. Inside, you'll also find a museum, sports areas, and stunning acoustics that enhance the surreal atmosphere.

In the afternoon, travel north to Snagov Monastery, a peaceful 15th-century sanctuary resting on an island in the middle of Snagov Lake. Accessible by a narrow bridge, the monastery is shrouded in legend as the supposed burial place of Vlad the Impaler—historically feared and famously known as Dracula. The quiet beauty of the island, combined with the monastery's ancient frescoes and mythical allure, offers a mysterious and contemplative end to a day filled with wonder and history.
