The next experience is a guided walk around the Borobudur temple’s three main levels, which represent the stages of enlightenment. At the base, you can observe intricate stone carvings that tell stories from the life of Buddha and ancient Javanese teachings. As you ascend, you will follow a path of spiritual symbolism, eventually reaching the top, where 72 bell-shaped stupas surround a large central dome. When you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views and a peaceful atmosphere that invites quiet reflection or awe-inspired photography. Many enjoy taking time to sit and absorb the beauty, serenity, and deep spiritual energy of the temple.

It is an adrenaline-filled ride through the rugged terrain surrounding one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes. The journey begins with hopping into a classic open-roof 4x4 jeep, driven by experienced local drivers who know the trails and volcanic history inside out. The adventure will take you across dusty lava fields, steep hills, and rocky paths carved by past eruptions. Along the way, travellers stop at iconic landmarks such as the Mini Museum Sisa Hartaku (Museum of My Remaining Treasures), which displays relics and ruins from the devastating 2010 eruption and visit Bunker Kaliadem, once a shelter that now serves as a reminder of the volcano’s immense power. Another highlight is the Alien Rock, a giant lava rock said to resemble a face, offering a striking photo opportunity. As the jeep bounces through scenic slopes, you will definitely enjoy panoramic views of Mount Merapi’s majestic peak—often shrouded in mist or cloud—creating a dramatic and unforgettable experience.
