The tour takes us from Tossens Beach about 800 metres into the mudflats – as far as a small tidal creek and sometimes even to an old boat wreck, which we affectionately call our “shipwreck.” There are plenty of things to discover along the way: various shells, the almost legendary lugworms, the fastest snail in the world, and also shore crabs, which like to spend the summer close to the beach in the warm mudflats.
We will test different types of soil under our feet, and those who are brave can even sink in really deep! Along the way, we will ask some fascinating questions together: Where does all the water go at low tide? And what's the deal with the tides? Together, we'll solve this mystery!
You will be accompanied by experienced mudflat and national park guides who will explain everything to you and will be happy to answer your questions.
The tour lasts approximately 1½ hours and finishes back at Tossens Beach. In summer, you can walk comfortably in socks, and from November to April, in boots.
The mudflats in Tossens are largely firm. The route is therefore easy to walk.
